Who: Mitsuo, Max, and Heine [Open to anyone who thinks they can help, or wants to capitalize on the chaos.] What: Saving Mitsuo from an Ogre. Where: Near the Archives. When: Post-Plane Shift.
He was mostly only doing this because he'd made a pledge to Smoker. Somehow, ignoring this guy while a monster decided he was good enough to eat was... not what Smoker would approve of
( ... )
Some part of him, more connected to what was 'right' and what was 'wrong' was concerned that the first person to run to his rescue would just get ripped in half by the monster... and the bigger part wondered if that would be enough to give him time to escape.
Mitsuo kept as close to the grate as he could without pissing himself so that he would know as soon as it was distracted.
Max had chosen an aerial approach, as was habit and especially convenient for her. She flew around eighty feet above land whilst zero-ing in on anything suspect with her raptor-like vision, eventually spotting a hideous monster-thing beating senselessly around a storm drain.
And lo', not too far from this was Heine running directly towards the sight. It occured to her that she would be cooperating with strange men and quite possibly facing off the Big Ugly. The former concern really was her only complaint. Regardless, Max angled her feathers and shot downwards toward the ogre.
In a sharply angled dive she descended, snatched one of the ogre's wicked horns, and yanked it sideways from it's cowering target with considerable momentum, then spun quickly to land on her feet yards away from the beast. She hoped that, with its bearings confused and back turned, Heine would reach the ogre from behind and attack before it bludgeoned her.
It didn't take long for Shikamaru to pinpoint wherever it was this boy had led him to, and it certainly didn't take him any longer to identify the ogre and two others around the area. With light steps and a kunai drawn in front of him (just in case, he thinks to himself), Shikamaru keeps at a distance so that if anything goes wrong, he can at least hold this creature back while they make their escape.
Reaching into his pouch, he pulled out a couple of meters of wire, tying it onto the end of his knife. "There's plenty of other spaces he could hide," he muttered to himself, "And he picks the sewers?"
Then again, even Shikamaru had to admit to the fact that the most obvious point of hiding would be the sewers. Ah, well. He couldn't blame the kid.
When the Ogre turned away, the oppressive heat in the sewer drain lessened slightly, and he dared to peer out. It's massive legs still blocked most of his view, and the stench made him sick... but he swore he could see someone else out there.
Mitsuo’s voice was the only physical trait of his that she recognized. She shot a quick glance passed the ogre into the shadows of the storm drain and could see very little of his face, but it was enough to commit to memory.
“You'll be okay!” Max shouted, taking a wary step back from the imposing child of fire before it struck. She would need more help distracting it in order to free Mitsuo from his hideaway. “Just keep your head down!”
"How will that help?!" he cried, but he ducked down anyway. He had seen what the thing had done to his robot... which now lay in ruins on the other side of the street, discarded as soon as it was no longer a threat.
Heine wasn't about to let anyone suffer any injuries in this rescue attempt. Pulling out both guns, he came to a stop once in range. Without a second's thought he aimed for the back of the ogre's head and fired
( ... )
Upon Heine's instruction, Max went directly for the storm drain at a sprint. He'd used a gun first; that said a lot to her, most of all that he only had so many shots before having to resort to something else. Whether or not he even had anything else, she didn't know.
Max snatched the grate lining the drain and, with a single huff, lifted and dragged it away from the space Mitsuo was hiding in. The last thing she needed was anything in their way.
Getting down on one knee, she extended her hand down for Mitsuo to take hold so that she could hoist him out.
It's that strong, huh? Not much brains, though. Positioning himself where the shadows were most prominent, Shikamaru formed a seal, watching the ogre's movements. Limited ammo, right? Narrowing his eyes and focusing his chakra, he sent the shadows moving towards the ogre to at least buy the two some time, hoping to bind the ogre down... temporarily. Even with all his techniques in hand, he could only bind something that big and aggressive for a limited amount of time at best.
"Hurry up!"
Did any of the know him? Nahhh. He figured he'd make his appearance a surprise.
Heine glanced to the source of what seemed to be suddenly binding the ogre in place. Well, this was convenient, both for him being able to reload and Max and Mitsuo getting away. However he didn't take another shot, waiting for the two were out of range of the ogre. He pointed one gun at the fire elemental beast once again, but this time he didn't shoot even while it was bound to the ground. Instead he motioned with his other hand to someone or something, muttering "Go."
At that moment the penguin that had been trailing after Heine slowly peeked around its master's leg and lost its hesitance, starting to run towards the ogre several times its size. However, about halfway there is wasn't a penguin, the change so fast it was practically instantaneous. Instead, it was a massive creature that thundered itself the rest of the way before tackling the ogre, teeth going right for its neck with it being held in place
