The tip of his tongue tasted like disgust from the poison that was oh-so familiar now -- a sort of faint anxiety that traversed through him, numbing his veins and forcing his body to sway. It was unexpected, truly. That Sasuke would turn up. And of course, Itachi was one to play the part of the self-sacrifice without any add-ons of justification for the cause of being so. Such an act that was avoided before finding himself in this environment only made Itachi impatient to end himself as the felt the venom of continuous-taken poison spreading through his blood ( ... )

Sasuke said nothing as his brother stood before him. It was all too familiar but different at the same time. The air around them. His brother indifferent to the whole situation. Itachi's figure blurred for a moment though; a sharp reminder of how different everything was. He was not the shinobi that Itachi had fought before ( ... )

There was a sense of surrealism about the whole situation. It was odd, for the lack of a better word, that Itachi did not see Sasuke lash out and claim to be of his brother’s death -- no fingers that lingered to a weapon, and such uncommitted actions made the Uchiha’s lips tense as though he was to un-expect something that was no doubt for the worst ( ... )

It had answered less answers than he had hoped. He should have expected an answer like that from Itachi. Sasuke shifted, eyes not leaving Itachi's face, looking for any hint of emotion. Anything to prove that ( ... )

It was a rarity for Itachi to see his brother composed after he had slaughtered his family -- regretfully. But his expression did not waver nor falter the slightest, even if he knew the outcome of what once was because coming here.

And, there was a low exhale, akin to that of a sigh as eyes were to open again, almost in hopes that his vision would restore itself. Yet, even as he knew it wouldn’t -- and at the words that his younger brother spoke - there was a deep urge to retreat. The answer was final, and Itachi had done what he was meant too, Sasuke had filled his objective, as Itachi did his own.

"I see." Was the only murmur that left his lips. His head tilted a few movements, and his expression went back to that as blank. "Then, is there anything you want. Assuming that you achieved killing me." And there was a low mutter that slipped from his mouth, words that were hard to bite back but not bitter or spiteful, almost mocking, "Or perhaps that alone was not satisfying enough for you."

Hues narrowed in mild distain to hear the controlled and sudden (unexpected) outburst that spewed from Sasuke mouth.

Madara instantly flashed through his mind, how he must have gained the attention from Sasuke -- and for a moment, as brief as it may be, Itachi’s appendages tensed with a sort of anxiety that continues the spread through him. no, this is now how Itachi had wanted it turn out.

And yet, perhaps in the bond of blood between the very few Uchiha that made Sasuke listen to the words of their power-hungry ancestor. But such trivialities should have been destroy -- such clinging and lingering wants and desires for the last of family was to be severed when the slaughter was committed and on display for Sasuke to see.

There was a pause of thoughts then, his expression turned stern, a slight faint hint of ridicule flashed through his features, and there was a soft sound that emerged from his throat, a low hmph as the disapproval of the words that chaotically spilled ( ... )

It shouldn't have been as much of a surprise to him as it was.

He'd been hoping Itachi would at least give the situation more acknowledgment. Or maybe he'd been hoping he'd acknowledge Sasuke's discovery. That didn't seem to phase Itachi as much as he was expecting though. Just narrowed eyes and a quiet noise.

It was probably the most acknowledgment he'd received since everything had happened though. And it pleased him, in a sick and twisted way. His eyes narrowed back at Itachi, not because of his brother's response, but because of his own twisted feelings.

Sasuke stepped towards Itachi, unsure if the other would even respond to him anymore, "It's not. I'm going to make sure they learn from their mistake."

Red hues directed their line of blurred vision to the motions that slowly made their way to him before they went back to Sasuke’s frame -- lowly, he let out a soft exhale, as though he felt pressure weighing on his chest.

And of course, when he heard the words of revenge and such, then Itachi’s lips pulled downwards the slightest, his words were hard and firm, almost bitter at this new realization that was given to him, and born from Sasuke’s stupidity and fed by Madara’s manipulations.

"Is that so?" Was the low reply, "To provoke what I prevented, how pathetic of you." And these words were true and honest, "Then don’t let me interrupt your undeniable foolishness." It was then that Itachi turned his back to Sasuke, almost in a gesture of dismissing him.

To be proud of murder and to provoke for war -- such a petty simple ideal that must have been. And to seek for revenge through such a path. But nonetheless, Itachi stopped in his track, and briefly there was a flicker of disappointment that graced his features, soft sadness that was almost overwhelming, and very much controlling Itachi to turn back around to face his brother with rotting vision ( ... )

Sasuke could feel pride and arrogance deflate. Itachi really had been looking out for him the entire time. It had been to keep him safe. He dropped his slightly blurred gaze away from his older brother. Madara had painted Konoha in a terrible light and he had realized it. Learning all of that while he was exhausted, and distraught...it was very likely that Madara stretched certain things. He could feel a shame come over him ( ... )

How obvious it was to Itachi that Sasuke had the desire to rekindle that of which was destroy -- and that in itself made Itachi inhale deeply. To continue to associate with a corpse had a morbid, and perhaps even melancholy, quality to it. And mainly when one was able to be pulled into this pace or shoved back like a useless carcass. The question itself made Itachi’s gaze fixate on Sasuke with a blank expression, albeit softened ( ... )
