The tip of his tongue tasted like disgust from the poison that was oh-so familiar now -- a sort of faint anxiety that traversed through him, numbing his veins and forcing his body to sway. It was unexpected, truly. That Sasuke would turn up. And of course, Itachi was one to play the part of the self-sacrifice without any add-ons of justification for the cause of being so. Such an act that was avoided before finding himself in this environment only made Itachi impatient to end himself as the felt the venom of continuous-taken poison spreading through his blood.

Fingertips brushed against the page of the book that was in hand. Red hues gazed over illiterate words with no interest in what they read. And he closed the object, letting it leave its grasp before making his way outside of the library with a fixation on his face that displayed all that was stern and firm with a layer of coldness. There was some sort o relief that emerged from his throat -- thankful that Kakashi had not intervened.

One could say that Itachi was currently threading contradictions through his mind as he steps took him from where he was and in wait; of course, the threads that weaved in his mind with a sideshow of suppressed rage at himself that was buried back into the void of his mind, and of course the pride and perhaps faint pity for his brother mingled.

There, he stood before his brother with the robe that was once worn to indicate himself as a traitor and criminal draped around his shoulders, and his face was nothing but graced with indifference and apathy as his red optics that were veiled with the blur of degrading vision directed themselves at the visual static that was Sasuke’s own form.

Sasuke said nothing as his brother stood before him. It was all too familiar but different at the same time. The air around them. His brother indifferent to the whole situation. Itachi's figure blurred for a moment though; a sharp reminder of how different everything was. He was not the shinobi that Itachi had fought before.

It brought another question to mind. Where...and when did this Itachi come from? He knew Nuadoria could bring someone from the same world, but take them from a different time and even bring those that were dead back to life. His chest tightened again. Was Itachi from before or after their fight? He knew he wouldn't be able to find out by not saying anything, but anytime his lips parted to speak, nothing would come out.

For once during his whole stay in Nuadoria, his hand didn't move back to the hilt of his sword. He crossed his arms, almost adopting a casual stance. He was still watching every move that his brother made, not wanting to make the mistake that Itachi wouldn't attack him. His lips pursed.

He needed to say something. Anything. He calculated his words, trying to get a few questions answered with one phrase, "You're alive."

There was a sense of surrealism about the whole situation. It was odd, for the lack of a better word, that Itachi did not see Sasuke lash out and claim to be of his brother’s death -- no fingers that lingered to a weapon, and such uncommitted actions made the Uchiha’s lips tense as though he was to un-expect something that was no doubt for the worst.

Nonetheless, there were no movements that indicated any form of hostility. His words were cold and sharp, firm -- but there wasn’t any impression of violence nor danger, and his stance seemed to waver. Itachi was often one that could adapt to any situation, but there was a slow creeping brief uneasiness that was felt. Eyes closed, as though he was to provoke Sasuke with the sudden dismissive of refusing to see him, as though he was ignorant to acknowledge his younger brother.

"It must be disappointing for you." Yes, Itachi knew that before he ventured into where he was taken that he was already dead. The battle that was orchestrated could only have one outcome, and that would have been his death. But Itachi would have never known, never suspected, that his brother would take a different direction then what Itachi had laid out before him.

It had answered less answers than he had hoped. He should have expected an answer like that from Itachi. Sasuke shifted, eyes not leaving Itachi's face, looking for any hint of emotion. Anything to prove that-

Sasuke stopped his train of thought. All of his thoughts, all of Madara's stories; they were overwhelming him. He needed to get back to the matter at hand. He refocused, trying to think of something else to say to his brother. It was a mind game. Somewhere, in the back of his mind, it unnerved him to remember that Itachi was a master at them.

He pushed the thought away, trying to regain control. Sasuke focused on Itachi's answer, first and foremost.

There was nothing disappointing about this situation in his mind. There were many other emotions, and none of them were disappointment. Emotions that he needed to ignore for the time being to get through this. His fist tightened. It was going to be harder than he'd ever thought.

"It's not," Sasuke muttered, still trying to keep his voice cold, "As much of a surprise as that must be for you."

It was a rarity for Itachi to see his brother composed after he had slaughtered his family -- regretfully. But his expression did not waver nor falter the slightest, even if he knew the outcome of what once was because coming here.

And, there was a low exhale, akin to that of a sigh as eyes were to open again, almost in hopes that his vision would restore itself. Yet, even as he knew it wouldn’t -- and at the words that his younger brother spoke - there was a deep urge to retreat. The answer was final, and Itachi had done what he was meant too, Sasuke had filled his objective, as Itachi did his own.

"I see." Was the only murmur that left his lips. His head tilted a few movements, and his expression went back to that as blank. "Then, is there anything you want. Assuming that you achieved killing me." And there was a low mutter that slipped from his mouth, words that were hard to bite back but not bitter or spiteful, almost mocking, "Or perhaps that alone was not satisfying enough for you."

"Why didn't you ignore the order?"

The question didn't wait this time. It rolled right from his mouth. Very unlike him. He hated it. Sasuke had always been able to control his words, and his emotions. Now though...no matter what he did, he knew he wouldn't be able to stop it.

His chest tightened. Madara's story played over and over again in his mind. It had haunted his dreams more times than he'd ever wanted to admit. Itachi being ordered to kill their family, and allowing him to live. Training his whole life, leaving the comfortable life he had in Konoha to get stronger and forget his emotions, only to kill the only one in the world that had dedicated his life to protecting him.

(Of course...why would Madara tell the whole tru-)

He pushed the doubt aside. It was unnecessarily. The story Madara had told him was the only thing that made sense. Sasuke's eyes narrowed, "Why couldn't you talk them out of it? Why didn't you let Sarutobi finish the negotiations?"

More questions that needlessly spilled from his mouth. If this kept up, he'd lose every bit of control that he'd worked up until now.

Hues narrowed in mild distain to hear the controlled and sudden (unexpected) outburst that spewed from Sasuke mouth.

Madara instantly flashed through his mind, how he must have gained the attention from Sasuke -- and for a moment, as brief as it may be, Itachi’s appendages tensed with a sort of anxiety that continues the spread through him. no, this is now how Itachi had wanted it turn out.

And yet, perhaps in the bond of blood between the very few Uchiha that made Sasuke listen to the words of their power-hungry ancestor. But such trivialities should have been destroy -- such clinging and lingering wants and desires for the last of family was to be severed when the slaughter was committed and on display for Sasuke to see.

There was a pause of thoughts then, his expression turned stern, a slight faint hint of ridicule flashed through his features, and there was a soft sound that emerged from his throat, a low hmph as the disapproval of the words that chaotically spilled.

"It’s over and done with." At first, his words were soft, almost petty in all their overwhelming indifference.

It shouldn't have been as much of a surprise to him as it was.

He'd been hoping Itachi would at least give the situation more acknowledgment. Or maybe he'd been hoping he'd acknowledge Sasuke's discovery. That didn't seem to phase Itachi as much as he was expecting though. Just narrowed eyes and a quiet noise.

It was probably the most acknowledgment he'd received since everything had happened though. And it pleased him, in a sick and twisted way. His eyes narrowed back at Itachi, not because of his brother's response, but because of his own twisted feelings.

Sasuke stepped towards Itachi, unsure if the other would even respond to him anymore, "It's not. I'm going to make sure they learn from their mistake."

Red hues directed their line of blurred vision to the motions that slowly made their way to him before they went back to Sasuke’s frame -- lowly, he let out a soft exhale, as though he felt pressure weighing on his chest.

And of course, when he heard the words of revenge and such, then Itachi’s lips pulled downwards the slightest, his words were hard and firm, almost bitter at this new realization that was given to him, and born from Sasuke’s stupidity and fed by Madara’s manipulations.

"Is that so?" Was the low reply, "To provoke what I prevented, how pathetic of you." And these words were true and honest, "Then don’t let me interrupt your undeniable foolishness." It was then that Itachi turned his back to Sasuke, almost in a gesture of dismissing him.

No.

That was definitely not supposed to happen. Itachi was supposed to be proud that he was avenging their family now. He was supposed to finally look at Sasuke and give him the acknowledgment he deserved. Dark eyes narrowed at Itachi's turned back.

"Itachi," there was no respect, fear or hatred in his voice. Sasuke reviewed Itachi's words carefully in his head. Pieces of the puzzle that were probably under-played by Madara. Sasuke mouth fell into a small frown, allowing some emotion onto his normally blank face. The story replayed in his head, and words that he over looked. The rebellion. His frowned deepened, "Wasn't Sarutobi close to gaining peace? Why did you..take those orders when he was close to solving things without..."

Violence. It was rather hypocritical of him to say that, especially now. He wanted to take down a village for his family, he'd killed Itachi in his time for revenge, and beat down any others who got in his way.

His eyes didn't leave his brother's back, hoping that the other would turn around again, and tell him his side of the story. His heart pounded in his ears, and for a moment, he felt as though this was the only thing that mattered. This moment was what he'd stayed in Nuadoria for.

To be proud of murder and to provoke for war -- such a petty simple ideal that must have been. And to seek for revenge through such a path. But nonetheless, Itachi stopped in his track, and briefly there was a flicker of disappointment that graced his features, soft sadness that was almost overwhelming, and very much controlling Itachi to turn back around to face his brother with rotting vision.

"Do you honestly believe that there were not many attempts to result in a peace treaty?" Yes, there was a low bitterness to his words, but the softness drowned them out. His gaze hardened on his younger brother before letting his vision drop. His body swayed, a weak sort of exhale left his lips before regaining composure in a gesture of letting his hand run through his hair before he continued to speak. "The Uchiha are not one for discrimination -- and their rebellion would have caused war." Words continued, and yet the afterthought that was added turned sharper, "I was not going to allow my brother to experience what I did before, as selfish as it may be."

And he was silent. There was nothing else Itachi wished to discuss on this particular issue. He was dead as he planned to be - and Sasuke had proclaimed for himself to take on revenge. Such an objective made Itachi’s own chest tighten, and he lowered his head, as though he was ashamed to even see his own brother with what little left he had of his vision. However, that was not true, as Itachi believed that he deserved to die yet a second time for the arrogance and hate that bubbled within his brother’s being.

Sasuke could feel pride and arrogance deflate. Itachi really had been looking out for him the entire time. It had been to keep him safe. He dropped his slightly blurred gaze away from his older brother. Madara had painted Konoha in a terrible light and he had realized it. Learning all of that while he was exhausted, and distraught...it was very likely that Madara stretched certain things. He could feel a shame come over him.

Itachi was the only one he had now. He'd been obsessed with his brother when he first arrived in Nuadoria. He only vaguely remember being scolded a year ago for his brash actions. Nuadoria definitely had taken it's toll on him. Even with his time back in his world, he knew he was a different person.

Dark eyes glanced back up. Something inside of him told him he needed to thank and apologize to Itachi. He'd done everything for him and in the end, Sasuke had killed him. He wanted to do anything he could for him, which is why he vowed vengeance against his former village. Deep in his heart, a little part of him hoped it would bring them all back. That it would allow things to be normal. And that he and Itachi could be brothers again.

"Itachi," He started, trying to find his next words, "Where are you staying?"

How obvious it was to Itachi that Sasuke had the desire to rekindle that of which was destroy -- and that in itself made Itachi inhale deeply. To continue to associate with a corpse had a morbid, and perhaps even melancholy, quality to it. And mainly when one was able to be pulled into this pace or shoved back like a useless carcass. The question itself made Itachi’s gaze fixate on Sasuke with a blank expression, albeit softened.

And it was odd in a way, how Sasuke’s desires matched Itachi’s own. And how neither of them had no one but one another -- or so he would have thought. Itachi felt an impulse to keep distant, to keep away, to be forgotten and to have Sasuke ignorant to his overall existence. But it would have been stupid considering it was Itachi that lured Sasuke’s curiosity and accepted their encounter. But not to listen to this, not to hear words woven by Madara that injected themselves into Sasuke’s mind, but to have his body on the ground.

There was a long stretch of silence; unbearable, a silence that was broken by a soft exhale that emerged from barely-parted lips and the lowering of Itachi’s eyelids. The calmness and composure that donned his exterior was replaced with languid swaying as he looked back at his brother.

"...Follow me." The words were low, almost hardly audible and softly drawn out as he turned to walk into the direction of his residence.
