Don't think you can hide.
I'll find you.
It was the truth, on his part; even in this chaos, Shuuhei would find Rinoa. They didn't need the book anymore, but Rinoa-Rinoa wasn't herself anymore, and it had to be fixed. The feeling of not being able to control one's body-it was a fear that was apparent in the way she spoke before, and it was also the reason why he was drawn to help her.
Maybe it was his selfish self-righteous bullshit taking over. But thoughts of his own selfishness, his own self-righteous bullshit, and everything that Renji had accused of him being didn't matter now, because it was too late. He would help, and no one was going to stop him.
It would be a lie to say that Byakuya and Rangiku's death didn't have an effect on him. Two people from the Gotei-one, his captain, the other, the woman that he swore that he'd protect after foxface's departure-died in front of him, fueling his sense of desperation. The desperation to want to save everyone around him, and to succeed. To never let such a thing happen again. To never fail.
No, it wasn't just Rinoa at this point. It wasn't just about saving people at this point.
It was his sanity slipping, all sense of rationality slipping, and the worst part was, he seemed rational and sane but in reality, he wasn't. He was desperate, and it showed in his predictable actions. His mind screamed, Rinoa, Rinoa, snap out of it or I won't be able to save you, just like Captain Byakuya and Rangiku-goddamn it, I don't want to lose anyone again-and then,
he was here.
Suddenly appearing by one of the rooftops (Scatty went unnoticed for the time being), Shuuhei squatted down to catch his breath before looking towards the distance, at the figure not so far away.
I'll find you.
