Secondly I'm assuming that when there's no baby in the uterus they have to press hard to find it. They barely press at all when there's a baby there because the uterus is the most prominent thing in your abdomen.
Thirdly transvaginals carry a risk of introducing bacteria and causing an infection. Minimal, yes - but you tell me, how many minimal risks are you going to avoid just on the minute possibility of harming your baby?
And fourthly, I almost didn't let the guy do my examination. I was completely wigged and nearly rescheduled the appointment to be with the nurse practitioner. She can't deliver the baby, but she could do the preliminary examinations. The very instant he was done with the pap my legs slammed closed and I wasn't opening them again for anything. I seriously have an issue with guys who choose this for a career.
