TweetCrawl 4 (4/3/2010)

Apr 06, 2010 07:57

It has taken me 2 days to recover from Tweetcrawl 4. At least recovered enough to write about it. I'm not sure I'll ever fully recover...that's how rad it was. This is the third Sunset Strip Tweetcrawl I've attended and I am happy to report they get better every time! This one started a little earlier than usual at 3pm by the pool at The Standard Hotel. The bus finally got me there at 3:45, just in time for the ping pong tournament to begin! We were greeted by the Easter Bunny ( @berkorules) who gave us stickers to write our Twitter names. It was good to see some old friends (@ trixywh @JessWing @N8theSk8 @juliestark @adrox3 @UncoolRockstar) as well as finally meet a few people I had only talked to online ( @ DirtyNerdy @MyNameisRazzle @PBR_LA). We even had our own special Tweetcrawl menu! I got an amazing $2 chicken taco & a Jelly Bean which was Red Bull and some kind of liquor I probably don't want to know about. All I'm sure of is it was delicious and had a strawberry in it, which was an automatic win for me. I got no pictures of it though which was a major fail. Another fail was that I never caught the name of the guy who won the ping pong tournament but I did get a picture of @nickyoussef & @nickjonastic during their attempt:

Around 5pm we ventured a short distance up the Strip to The Comedy Store where we were greeted with free cans of PBR as well as more friends ( @intr0vert @brentxavier @LAwomanPhoto @TessOZ @andrewherrold). After a few minutes on the front patio we went inside and found our seats in the Original Room. The show was introduced by Alf Lamont, who has been one of the main organizers of all the Tweetcrawls. First Justin Martindale did what felt like a really short set because it was so funny I didn't want it to end. Next up was Kevin Christy. Now, don't get me wrong...he was very funny. But I must admit my opinion was a bit tempered by the fact that he doesn't have a Twitter. Normally I wouldn't hold this fact against someone, but after all, this was TWEETcrawl. So all I remember from his set is he has no Twitter. ;)

When we got back out to the patio, even more friends had arrived during the show ( @ScheffXP @reneeinsd @TattedDrew @JennCleveland @amyehawthorne @Anyshka). After a longer trek up Sunset and a quick stop at Ole Henriksen for gift bags, we arrived at Live! On Sunset. They passed out free champagne at their back bar and 75 Easter eggs were hidden throughout the store! I looked around everywhere for an egg but I'm just no good at those kinds of games. For some reason @ChrisMillhouse found an egg and offered it to anyone who wanted it. Which of course I did. I'm so glad I grabbed it because it contained a snow cheetah ring that matches the carpet in my apartment:

One crosswalk away to Book Soup which was set up with a Pin the Tail on the Bunny game and of course a cooler full of PBR!

Then back across the Blvd to Citysearch L A where we enjoyed the most delicious cupcakes ever from Kiss My Bundt plus wine from Layer Cake Wine.

After nearly an hour of my clumsy attempts at socializing we ventured back outside where it was finally getting dark. Across the street to familiar territory at The Viper Room where @LooseFang greeted us and pointed us towards the downstairs lounge where more drink specials awaited...including those $1 shots I had rightly been dreading.

After enjoying a few of those shots (How many? I don't know...it was pretty dark in there) we finally headed up the street to The Roxy where we were treated to @WorldFare, the first double decker food bus (again no picture...fail). Then we went inside for Nonpoint and Cold shows.

I gotta be honest...this is where everything gets a little blurry. Luckily I have pictures or else I don't think I'd remember anything past 10pm. All I know for sure is the last ones I saw standing were Berko, Scheff, Renee, Drew, Brian, myself, & Jesus (yes, that Jesus. See the pic below...it was Easter weekend & apparently He was resurrected on The Strip)! I will StripCrawl with you guys again any time! Can't wait for the San Diego party bus to get here and the return of The Real Sunset Strip on April 24th!

So I survived another Tweetcrawl. I will be back for the next one...I've heard rumors about June. The best part is it was so cheap. Very recession friendly. I arrived with $40 & brought home $23. I drank...a lot. One might even argue I got wasted. But I did it for not a lot of money. I can't get over all the free shows, drink specials, prizes, food, and who can forget all those PBRs they are able to squeeze into one night!!! Thank you so much to Alf Lamont, Sarah Berkowitz, Nic Adler, Annie DeSanctis and Nathan Levinson for putting all this together for us! Definitely one of the most memorable nights of my life. I ended up bringing home the menu from The Standard, 2 Easter Eggs (one still with chocolate in it...score!), my fabulous snow cheetah ring, the "Reserved for Tweet Crawl" table sign from The Roxy, a flier for the 4/3 midnight show at Viper, and a $25 gift certificate to The Standard. I don't remember winning that gift certificate. For all I know I might have stolen it. I can't be held accountable for any crimes committed the night of a Tweetcrawl.
