The Real Sunset Strip (12/5/09)
There is an incredible new show called The Real Sunset Strip broadcasting live outside The Roxy every Saturday night. From 10pm pst to midnight, hosts Scheff & The Hawk interview bands as well as Hollywood locals and other people involved with making the The Sunset Strip rad. You can watch the show live every week on Ustream. The online feed is really fun & interactive as not only are you watching the live stream, but there is also a chatroom with lots of cool regulars. After watching the last 3 weeks online, I decided to head down and say hello this week. So glad I did because not only are Scheff & The Hawk completely awesome, but so is their producer, Nic Adler (owner of The Roxy as well as son of legendary Sunset Strip pioneer Lou Adler). The guys all welcomed me right in & immediately treated me like I was a part of the team, which was amazing & totally appreciated. I watched part of the show from behind the guests (thinking I was safely out of the view of the camera...which I wasn't haha) then spent the second half backstage. They interviewed Mark McGrath (from Sugar Ray, which like an idiot I totally missed because I was next door at The Rainbow enjoying a little too much whiskey), David Faustino (Bud Bundy from Married with Children), Lacey (from Rock of Love), Nylon Pink, and Anyshka. It was so much fun hanging out with the guests and getting to know them, because they were all rad as hell. The show wrapped up just after midnight & completely unexpectedly the guys invited me to help them close the show out! They introduced me & we did a shout out to all the chatters! It was so cool & I wasn't nearly as nervous or awkward as I expected myself to be, although I have two rules for the next time: no gum & less alcohol! :)
After the show they got everything broken down we ended up hanging out at On The Roxx for a while, discussing the show & where they're hoping to take it. I was honored to be a part of everything and hope I can come out & be involved more in the future. There is a show next Saturday night, then they're taking a holiday break until 2010.
Everyone should come down & check out the show live Saturday nights from 10pm to midnight outside The Roxy (9009 Sunset Blvd) on the legendary Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, CA but even if you can't make it out, don't forget to watch The Real Sunset Strip live online!
