Verse 1
For girlish reasons
Though quite out of season
We were out for the night.
Coming from Mayfair
With purse full of cab fare
And shoes sparkling bright.
Everyone's here at the nightclub GAYE,
Nobody cares what people say,
Like the Riviera
It seemed no much queerer
Than Rome at it's height,
On Saturday night-
Refrain 1
I went to a marvelous party
With Katie and Maya and Flash.
Flash showed us the way
In his brand new DJ
And us girls thought he cut
Quite a dash.
Well I started singing at midnight
And didn't stop drinking till four;
We knew the excitement was bound to begin
When Maya got Flash pissed on Tanqueret gin
He then disappeared with a fireman called Tim.
I couldn't have liked it more.
Refrain 2
I went to a marvelous party,
I must say the fun was intense,
We enjoyed the view
Oh the things that we do
When the music drowns out common sense!
A transvestite called ‘Blaze’ wore white armour,
Some shells and a black feather boa,
Her towering wig had a surrealist comb
Made of bits of mosaic from St. Peter's in Rome
But the weight was so great that she had to go home,
I couldn't have liked it more.
Verse 2
People's behavior
From Cheam to Belgravia
Would make you aghast,
So much variety
Watching the eye candy
Partying fast,
If you have any mind at all
Gibbon's divine Decline and Fall
Seems pretty flimsy,
No more than a whimsy,
By way of contrast
On Saturday last-
Refrain 3
I went to a marvelous party,
We go there quite early at ten
And Kate like a star
Did a stunt at the bar
With a lot of extraordinary men;
Maya looked round in confusion
Which just made us laugh all the more,
We all started giggling and tried not to stare
When one chap in leather and covered in hair
Asked Maya if she’d like to ‘Follow the Bear
I couldn’t have liked it more.
Refrain 4
I went to a marvelous party,
Met a pal from my Metropol days
You’d never have guessed
From her black latex dress
That her arse had been lippo’ed away.
By then I was fried on mojitos
And thought I’d end up on the floor.
Well Flash saw me wobble and offered his arm
And I being silly thought ‘hey what’s the harm’
And we tangoed our way through the crowd to the bar.
I couldn't have liked it more.
Refrain 5
I went to a marvelous party.
We played the most wonderful game,
Poor Kate disappeared
And came back feeling weird
And I don’t think she’ll be the same!
I talked about letting your hair down
With Flash around quarter to four
He said, “A, it's a question of being sincere,
And B, if you're supple you've nothing to fear.”
Then he swung upside down from a glass chandelier,
I couldn't have liked it more.
