"Hacktivist Collective" Anonymous has
shut down over 40 underground ("DarkNet") websites dealing in child pornography, and "outed" a list of the account details of 1589 members.
At first glance, this seems like a good thing, right? Except, in doing this, did they interfere with ongoing investigations? Did they destroy evidence, or call its veracity into question? Did they basically destroy any chance the cops had of dealing with these people in a more legal and permanent way? Heck, if I really wanted to be a conspiracy theorist, I'd wonder if this was done on purpose to stymy an existing investigation.
So, bravo Anonymous! Way to drive the child pornographers even further into the darkness, where they'll be even harder to catch! Really, well done! Noobs.
