Autocorrect + wrong number = law enforcement hilarity!

Mar 01, 2012 13:57

Schools in Georgia were locked down yesterday after someone texted their friend "gunna be at west hall today". Except that (a) they didn't notice that auto-correct had changed "gunna" to be "gunman", and (b) they didn't check the number they sent it to.

So, someone receives a text message from a phone number they don't know, which says "gunman be at west hall today", and the police might be excused for reacting a little, well, cautiously - particularly because this came literally days after the school shooting in Ohio.

Moral of the story: Proof-read your text messages (or, better yet, use real words) and check the number you're sending them to. Or don't be surprised when SWAT comes knocking on (or down) your door.
