A fun time was had by all

So silveryone came over to visit last night, and brought a hilarious DVD of The Wet Spots from the Vancouver Fringe Festival. We all sat around drinking absinthe and talking and watched the video. Almost made me feel like a normal, non-globe-hopping person for a while. It's pretty rare when that happens, so that was cool. The only problem is that it makes getting back on the plane for a few more weeks of travel that much more difficult. I'm leaving for Connecticut again on Sunday - not really my first choice for exotic destinations, but it was that or Boulder, Colorado, and I just don't want to go back to Boulder any time soon. There's nothing wrong with Boulder, except that it's boring, and I've already spent three months there in the last couple of years. Of course, with this trip I've spent 3 months in Connecticut this year, so it may be time to go somewhere else.

In other news, my laptop is still sort of screwed up from that system crash I had a couple of months ago. The tech support guys in the company have no idea why it's so FUBAR'd and recommend re-imaging it. The only problem with that is that I have gigabytes of stuff I need to back up first - pictures from various places, MP3's, etc. So, to coin a phrase, "bugger that for a bag of dead puppies". In other words, no.

Ok, I need to get to work. Well, not really - I'm the only person here today, as everyone else in my company has today off so they get a nice four-day weekend. But, since I work with the US team instead of the Canadian team, I don't get the Canadian holidays, so I'm here at work in a dark, quiet office. Fun. I do have a couple more tasks I need to do before next week - it ought to keep me occupied for about 5 minutes out of the day. I don't know what I'm going to do for the rest of the day, but somebody else won't enjoy it....

life, work, absinthe, travel
