In case anyone is interested, here's how my weekend played out, behind a
- On Friday, I worked from home because I had a doctor's appointment. It was a regular 3-month checkup (she's not too worried about my blood sugar or my blood pressure at this point, which is good), but since I am still coughing we talked about that as well. Long story short, I'm on a new inhaler, and if I'm not better in 2 weeks I need to book a breath-capacity test to see if I have asthma now. WTF?
- On Saturday morning, I got up decently early so I could take the car in for servicing (regular oil change plus put the winter rubber on the tires). Well, I got the oil change done. I also got a free air pressure sensor replacement on one of the tires. It appears that their guy who was working the bays on Saturday "isn't ready to move on from oil changes to tire replacement" just yet. I'm supposed to drop the car off on Tuesday after work to see if they can do it then.
- Saturday afternoon I dragged up all the Hallowe'en decorations from the basement, decorated the front lawn (tombstones) and porch (plastic skeletons), and dug out my costume (nothing fancy, just a head-to-toe black-clad figure including face mask and cape). Then I went back out to the front lawn and picked up the tombstones - it was so windy that they blew over and snapped their supports, which sucks. So I propped the tombstones against the porch instead.
- Saturday evening, I filled a bowl with candy, stood perfectly motionless on my front porch, and waited for two hours for kids to come by. After two hours, my feet were cramping due to the cold, so I went in. No kids up to that point. Between 8 and 9pm we got 11 kids. We shut the lights off at 9pm, so the grand total for the night was 11 kids. We bought the big 125-count box of mini chocolate bars because we didn't know how many kids we'd get.
- Sunday was grocery shopping. We went to Wal-mart to do so (their produce section sucks half the time, but these days so does the Loblaws, and at least the Wal-mart is cheaper). Their Hallowe'en stuff was marked at 50% off, but all we grabbed was a few packs of Hallowe'en muffin cups. Didn't get the 50% discount, for some reason. Couldn't be bothered to complain to management. Edit - as pointed out, I forgot to mention that I also spent part of Sunday cleaning up five separate instances of cat vomit in the span of half an hour.
Yeah, exciting, I know.
