Wichita State University radio station KMUW has been ranked No. 22 in the country among public radio stations by the Radio Research Consortium Inc.

KMUW is among the top 30 public radio stations nationwide with a 3.3 average quarter-hour share of the Wichita metro audience from June 28-Sept. 19.

The station ranked among those in much larger markets, such as San Francisco, Minneapolis, Boston and Seattle. The ranking comes after KMUW reached No. 28 in another recent RRC list.

KMUW also ranked No. 25 nationally in Cume Rating, a measurement of service based on the metro area population.

"We have been in these national rankings a few times in the past, but reaching the Top 30 in the winter and again this summer shows a consistency of service," said Mark McCain, KMUW's general manager. "And it tells us we have a significant audience listening to Wichita Public Radio."

KMUW program director Lu Anne Stephens added: "Our goal is to continue to address the needs of people in south-central Kansas. This report helps to validate some of our earlier programming changes."
