ON AIR

Jul 30, 2007 16:04

Howdy all,

I'm writing to let you know that I'll be on the air at KMUW on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to noon. This will start the weekend after next, on the 12th of August. This is weekend, "prime time," says Lu, my program director.

Lu had me record an "audition" in one of the studios--reading some upcoming events, a station ID, some onderwriters--onto an audio file this afternoon for her to listen to. Lu says normally, they'd start someone on the 12 p.m.-7 p.m. air shift, when there are fewer listeners, but I'm "good enough" to go ahead to the more popular shift. What this means for you, the listeners, is that you'll hear me host A Prairie Home Companion, Car Talk, Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me!, and several other good programs.

Katie, the other intern, is currently hosting these shows, but she will leave for school in Lawrence soon. Student X, a WSU student who hosts the evening shift, would normally bump up to the morning shift, but Lu thinks I read better than him. I like Student X alright, but woot! It's worth getting up early on the weekends to be on the air. I haven't done any on-air stuff since college.

So, listen for me starting August 12th (or if you're really merciful and don't want to hear my mistakes, start listening later..) And if you're out of our broadcasting reach, you can listen live online at KMUW.org.

Yay!

Kate
