I think I've fulfilled my quota of spring cleaning for the next five years. I was cursing Past!Laura's name yesterday afternoon as I went about reorganizing my bedroom. It took about SIX HOURS!!
I'm pretty sore. I wouldn't have been as sore if it weren't for the unnecessary furniture moving I did. I waddled my huge dresser to one part of the room, decided I didn't like it. Then I waddled it to another part of the room, smashed my toe with it a couple of times, and then waddled it some more so it went into a corner. That was the biggest and most difficult piece of furniture to move. My book cases weren't much trouble as there were no books on them. And my bed frame has wheels on it, so it wasn't too bad.
I proclaimed yesterday that I didn't want any more stuff. No more "things" that I have to find a place for. I never had a problem with doing so before, because the way I organized was basically if it was out of the way it was fine. That's why my room had stuff stacked in every little corner and crevice. I cleaned all of that out. Put a lot of stuff away. Stored it in the closet. And threw a bunch of stuff out. The trunk of the TARDIS has two garbage bags full of clothes, old jewelry, and shoes for Goodwill.
When I began cleaning out the stacks in the corners, I experienced major flashbacks of fan girl nostalgia. I had a box upon which and inside which was stacked my magazine collection. When I sketched and drew all the time, I liked to buy magazines so I could draw from the pictures and advertisements in there. (Hence my large collection of celebrity drawings.) I also bought magazines for other purposes, which you can basically see from these stacks I came up with after I sorted through the pile of mags yesterday:
As you can see, there is kind of a theme going on there. From left, there's the Harry Potter mags I bought because I am obsessed. Lord of the Rings for the same reason as HP. (That Entertainment mag on the bottom should go in the LotR pile because of the reunion of the cast covered in it.) Then Star Wars. There are a bunch in this stack because I bought any magazine with a hint of SW news and images so I could scan them and post them on my SW Jedi-themed website. Because I was so insane, I had some images you didn't see elsewhere during the entire SW craze. Next to that is basically my "Hot Guy" pile. That cover with Christian Bale was a preview for Batman Begins in 2005. Isn't he cute? There are People "Sexiest Man Alive" issues in there as well as some other random stuff. Below that, of course, are the few collectors Star Trek mags I've managed to get my hands on. They're pretty rare in stores, so when I see them I snap them up. The last one is Muse's first cover on an American magazine. They're bound to have more covers on this side of the pond, so that will eventually become a stack as well.
That picture represents what I saved. I threw out about half of my original collection. Most were just random magazines, some Oscar coverage for on year or another. It was so fun, though to see which movies were out when and remember when I went to see them. Yeah. I suppose it makes me look kind of shallow, but stories, telling and hearing them, are a big part of my life. And movies are a part of story telling.
Now, I'm crazy sore, but my room is neat and is a little cozier, which is nice. All I want to do right now is sleep in it.

Cecily and I went to see The Adjustment Bureau last night. It's a fun movie. It's quite Doctor Whoish in the fact that they don't really explain the science behind the science fiction. But, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt are both wonderful in it. Their back and forth dialogue is fantastic because they're such good actors. It's a cool concept, and really kept your attention to very tidy ending.
During that particular visit to the theater, we also saw a behind the scenes/preview of Priest. It looks pretty freaking awesome. And I LOVE Karl Urban! I love Karl Urban in that hat! lol

It will probably be rated R, so I won't end up seeing it. But if it's not, I might just go and see it...
