Everything has a reason.

I am slightly irritated at this point. The guy came over to replace the mother board in my freaking NEW computer so the battery would actually charge but it ended up that he was sent the wrong freaking mother board! *headlap!* Every single time it has to do with something I really, really want, it never seems to work out at all or at least the way I want it to. Grrrr. The 24 hour customer service would get my foot up their butts if I wasn't so pooped.

I've GOT to have my computer fixed soon because I'm actually going on my first business trip in two weeks and it's kind of freaking me out because I've never travelled very far on my own before. I know, I'm a weenie. It'll be four fantastic days in Pleasanton, Cali-FOR-nia having CSR classes for four days straight from 9am to 5pm. Since I'm not old enough to rent a car I need to take a shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel and hopefully get to location of Fireside Bank's main office on foot (they're booking me a hotel in that same area) After the classes at night I'll be stuck in the hotel room watching probably basic cable. I am praying that I'll have my own room, wouldn't that be fabulous? But I NEED my computer! I'll at least be able to write and maybe visit online for a little while.
So there's that to kind of look forward to. I leave February 11, Sunday evening and come back Thursday evening and what's worse is that I'll be expected to go to work on Friday afterwards. Ugh. But oh well *shrugs*

*sigh* I just want to gather Greg up in my arms and cuddle him until he tells me that I'm incurably psychotic. House is back! And what I mean by that is the angst, the fighting, the meaningless yet very mean insults, and the yucky drug seeking behavior is all gone and everything is back to the pill popping normalcy that all us fans love. I've heard that many people didn't really enjoy last night's episode because it was "boring". On the contrary, I quite enjoyed it because, when it comes to stories, my favorite thing is to get to know the characters inside and out. It's fun for me to get into the psychology of the character I'm reading or watching. (That is why the Hannibal Rising novel is quite tempting to me but I'm still passing on it because I know I don't have the stomach for it.) And last night was a fantastic opportunity to get to know House a little more. We as an audience actually came to realize if we hadn't before without a doubt that there is some humanity to Greg House and there even is a reason, if only a partial one, for why he is the way he is.
There was more normal sarcastic jokes like the "kissing" thing with Cuddy and the digging around in House's psyche even if the actress was a little to twitchy and intense at times. I liked her though, there was a great chemistry between them despite the odd sounding script.

But I'm just glad that House is back to the way I like it, the funniness, the wit, the sexy Hugh Laurie with the looks he gives every now and then...guh. This episode had some doozies in it too! Nobody watches shows like that for the obnoxious angst anyway. It's not necessary.

And speaking of funniness and wit, the other thing that will keep me busy during my off time when I'm in Cali-FOR-nia are the fantastic Disc novels that I am becoming a fast fan of. I finished The Color of Magic last week after all of my books were packed. I realized this a little too late and came to realize that the next novel was already over at the apartment in a box. [Darth Vader]NOOOOooooooo![/Darth Vader] But after moving in and unpacking my books, I started The Light Fantastic, the next novel, on Monday. I am honestly giggling at least once every page. Pratchett thinks so outside the box with his fantastic British wit that he slays me with new material every time, just clever little tid bits that don't really have a lot to do with the plot which, kind of eludes me at the moment. But that's the point right there! It's so clever and witty, you don't need a plot. And there is one, it's just being moved along by the characters who really have no idea what's going to happen next either if that makes any sense.

I do hope my connection will last long enough for me to post this. If not I'll have to try it again tomorrow. Oh, we taped Heroes while watching 24 on Monday. Damn the psychotic bastards who decided to air them at the same time! I just watched it though and I'm kind of excited for the escape of You-Know-Who, and for Claire :) I bet she's thankful for her powers now huh? lol

house, books, hugh laurie, funny, heroes, work
