So I finally went to the dentist after about 3 years. I couldn’t afford it so my mom had to pay. I had 3 different cavity spots that needed fillings. One of these spots was a filling that had fallen out 3 times. The last time I was at a dentist was when they were fixing that filling for the second time. Well they messed it up the 2nd time they filled it and my tooth cracked and part fell off. Finally the whole filling fell out a couple of weeks before this appointment. Sooo I went in on Friday to have that tooth fixed again. They knew it was bad and that the cavity was really close to my nerve but they didn’t realize how bad it really was.
He gutted out the tooth and realized my root/nerve was sticking up through a hole in the tooth but it was dead. I had to have an emergency root canal. Root canals aren’t nearly as bad as people make them out to be but holding your mouth open for 2 hours with none stop drilling is a bit tough. So they only did half of the root canal, they took out the root/nerve and filled it with a temp filling & antibiotic and I have to go back in 3 weeks so they can finish the job. Once my novocaine wore off I was in so much pain I couldn’t even talk. It wasn’t even the root canal that hurt though it was the stupid anesthetic they had to shoot in my mouth about 4 or 5 times. Now that is what hurt.
Anyway the moral of the story is, go to the dentist regularly and you’ll only have to pay $50 instead of a $1000. Plus it will be less painful in the long run.
