In-Game Character Information
Name: Jaina Solo
Series: Star Wars; Expanded Universe
Age: 18

Personality:

Jaina's most defining trait is easily her determination. When she wants to see something done, she'll get it done through whatever means she can use. Jaina is someone who constantly needs a goal to reach, she's uncomfortable with being idle and would rather be working, whether it's on lightsaber forms or tinkering with machines. Her perspectives tend to be very pragmatic in life, and she isn't one to typically spend a lot of time contemplating the mysteries of the universe or the what ifs. She focuses on the things that are right in front of her, and how to succeed in doing them. Because of this, Jaina has long since learned how to be resourceful with the tools at her disposal. A natural strategist, when she is presented with an obstacle she will utilize every means of defeating it, and if the obstacle's big enough or the end goal is important, she's not afraid of crossing a few lines on the morality spectrum. She can think on her feet, and will make the quick decision without thinking through all of the consequences.

Because of this outlook, Jaina can sometimes come off as close-minded or stubborn. She has no time for tact or pleasantries when dealing with people, and only uses the diplomatic approach when she thinks no other means will work. And while Jaina personally toys with the shades of gray in morality, she has little patience for people who can't make up their mind or choose a side. There is the Right Cause and the Wrong Cause in Jaina's world, and if she thinks you're on the wrong side she'll let you know. Usually with snark or a lightsaber at your throat. She's not the most serene person in the world, she gets angry and defensive easily, and it doesn't take much to provoke her if the provoker knows which spots to hit.

However, when it comes to the people she cares about, Jaina is incredibly protective and almost maternal. She will push people into reaching their potential, and won't tolerate any less from those she has faith in. Jaina doesn't trust easily, but when she does she puts everything into that trust and is unlikely to forgive any transgressions against it. After her younger brother's death, this has only become a stronger mentality, as Jaina is unwilling to lose anyone close to her again. She has an innate fear of letting down those she cares for, and because of that she's intense about getting those close to her to become stronger and safer. If she senses a loved one in danger, Jaina is quick to put her own life on the line to make sure they get to safety.

Outwardly, Jaina is somewhat of a tomboy. She loves flying, mechanics, and other activities that require getting your hands dirty. She spends next to no time on her outward appearance unless she believes that it will get her some benefit in return, and has all the grace and poise of a charging elephant. Conversationally, she's a bit of an ass, usually having a sarcastic reply on the tip of her tongue and is occasionally teasing. Often, she's dismissive of deep or philosophical talks, preferring to deal with things that are more hands-on and tangible, and anything with the abstracts is superfluous information that has no relevance in the real world. Jaina's a girl who deals with the hows, not the whys.

Background:

Oh god please don't make me type this out.

Jaina Solo comes from an intensely complicated family, rife with political uprisings, Force users, heroes, lightsabers, kidnappings and one of the most notorious dark wizards in Wizarding history as a grandfather. She's the first child to Han and Leia Organa Solo, two famous magic users who were vital in the defeat of Darth Vader, something that branded Jaina, her twin brother Jacen, and their youngest sibling Anakin as high profile children- growing up with an uncle as the founder of the New Jedi Order, a mother in the deadly arena of international politics, and an ex-pirate turned unconventional savior of the free wizarding world for a father tends to have that effect.

The Solos had an unconventional childhood at best. The twins especially were subjected to many threats and kidnapping attempts by political enemies of their mother, Vader supporters, and muggle hating fanatics. Eventually the constant danger became too much for Leia and Han, who came to the decision to send their children to remote locations to be raised by a governness, out of the public eye and subsequent danger it brought. Jaina grew up having a strained relationship with her parents, mainly due to the fact that their hectic lives didn't bring them many opportunities to spend time with their children.

Her upbringing during her young childhood made large impacts on Jaina's life. The first was that the Solo children grew incredibly close. The twins and Anakin were near inseparable, often teaming up to make their nanny miserable by randomly exploding things with their uncontrolled wandless magic, an ability passed down to them through their mother's side which was often referred to as the Force. They relied on each other more than the adults in their lives, and only grew more dependant when it came time for the twins to leave for their uncle's praxeum, a new institution for young Jedi apprentices to get a handle on their unique Force talents, learn the Jedi Code and philosophy, and to begin training in order for them to be knighted after their official school graduation. Jaina was raised to be a warrior monk, to protect muggle borns and to fight the forces of darkness. She stayed at the praxeum until she received her Hogwarts letter at the age of eleven, and continued to spend most of her holidays there over her school years, finally constructing her own lightsaber when she was fourteen. She was assigned her aunt as a Master, and began training to become a Jedi Knight.

However, during Jaina's sixth year at school, tragedy struck the Solo family. Chewbacca, a wookiee and longtime friend and uncle figure to Jaina passed away. Han blamed Jaina's youngest brother Anakin for his death, and a noticeable and painful rift in the Solos was created. Jaina's parents almost divorced, and Han left and shut out everyone in order to grieve the loss of his best friend. The situation was especially hard on Anakin, and contributed to the circumstances that lead to an even bigger loss for Jaina.

During the summer holidays, Anakin was killed protecting muggles from pureblooded wizards. Jaina and Jacen both witnessed the murder, and were at his side while he died before Jacen pulled Jaina away to safety. Watching her youngest brother die changed Jaina, and she began to use dark magic and hexes against his attackers. This naturally resulted in Ministry intervention, and Jaina was forced to undergo review for using magic outside of school. Facing what looked like expulsion from Hogwarts, Jaina's academic career was saved by her parents, both closely tied to the Ministery, and her uncle, the Grand Master of the Jedi Order, who vouched for her. The Ministry acquitted the charges on counts of emotional stress and self defense. Her close call made no difference to Jaina. She became set on vengeance, wanting nothing more than to kill those who had taken Ani from her even if it meant giving up her own life in order to do it.

Jaina cut herself off from everyone, her parents, her twin, and even the Order as she spent what was left of the holiday finding ways to track down the wizards who had killed Anakin. She began to find less and less reservations about right and wrong, and it was clear to everyone that Jaina was setting foot down a dark path. It was only through the intervention of a fellow Order member Kyp Durron, a Master who had tricked Jaina once before into using dark magic when she was younger, who came to find her during the end of the summer holidays. Kyp brought Jaina back from the Dark Side, and shortly after that Jaina apprenticed herself to him.

After Kyp's assistance, Jaina began to work her way towards recovery, learning how to open up to people again during her seventh year at Hogwarts. However, for a few months Jaina was called away by an assignment given to her by her official Master, her aunt. The assignment was a test, to see not only if Jaina was ready for Knighthood but to also assess her mental abilities and whether or not she was at risk for falling back into her dark habits. Jaina passed with flying colors, and the Order agreed upon officially Knighting her after graduation from Hogwarts.

Blood: Half-blood

Preferred House: Slytherin or Gryffindor
Why you think they belong in this house?

Slytherin: She already has all the outfits 8| To be blunt, Jaina is a stubborn ass. When she's determined to do something, she's going to see it through to the end, means or the moral high ground be damned. And while Jaina doesn't lack the reservations regarding manipulating others, she can place them aside in order to reach her goal. She uses all the resources at her disposal when tackling problems, and disregards how orthodox they may be.

Gryffindor: To be blunt, Jaina is a stubborn ass. If it's a cause she thinks is right, she'll follow through and brave the consequences. She is also very inherently protective of those she cares for, and is at her core a Knight willing to do what it takes to fulfil her duty.

School Year: 7th

Quidditch Position: A Chaser or Seeker position would be totally awesome 83
Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? Yes please!

Roleplay Samples

Journal Sample: (first person)

Alright. Now that I'm back from my mission and a little less predisposed to shuffle around like a zombie with half a brain stomped out due to fatigue, I've noticed there's a few things that still need to be taken care of:

1. I'd like to find a staff member willing to mentor a Fencing Club. It's clear that things like...sudden unicorn attacks aren't going away soon and it's best to be prepared.

2. The proceeds from the Friendly Slytherin Bakesale are going back into the Tutoring Club. Anything specific members want to see?

3. Congratulations to the Slytherin team for totally flooring Gryffindor. Asch, you did great for your first game. Told you you would.

4. Durron, I hope you remembered to feed Shelly.

5. Catty. 3am for the next two weeks. We have a lot to catch up on.

6. Kirk you owe me dinner. Expensive dinner.

Jaina swore as the rusty firebolt cut into her thumb, setting the wrench down and pulling herself out from underneath the motorcycle she had been working on. She scowled, whiping the blood off on her overalls and glaring at the parts that remained on the ground. She had been at this all morning, but so far it seemed that trying to get a motorcycle to fly permanently was about as likely as getting a quaffle through a square goal.

Her eyebrows furrowed in thought, and Jaina took a slow, measured breath as she tried to regain her enthusiasm with the project, channeling the lessons of patience from back when she was at the praxeum. To every problem, a solution. Or something like that. Maybe the teachings of the Jedi Order weren't quite applicable to getting a Harley airborne.

Jaina shook her head, deciding to go with a different approach. The wandless magic of the Jedi was all well and good, but they weren't the ones who taught her how to install coolant lines or replace fuel injectors. Her hands found another wrench, and Jaina ducked under the bike's engine again, intent on turning every knob and replacing every wire until she got this right.

The Force may have been strong with her, but it sure as hell didn't compare to the Solo's stubborn streak.

Weapons

Character name: Jaina Solo

Canon weapon/Item: Lightsaber

Specific properties/abilities:

An elegant weapon for a more civilized time, the lightsaber is a peace-keeping tool that all Jedi build for themselves upon reaching the end of their training. It is a sword that has a blade of highly focused light, producing a laser that can cut through damn near anything as well as deflect blaster bolts.

How will this be translated to Hogwarts?

Lightsaber-- but a far more depowered one. Students of the traditional Jedi ways build their own lightsabers as a symbol of reaching adulthood. It is constructed using four basic parts- the hilt, the emitter, a focusing lens, and a magical crystal. Students are expected to gather and assemble the necessary components themselves- the end result being a sword made out of light. Unlike the canon counterpart, Hogwarts-style lightsabers wouldn't be able to cut through anything and could be stopped by objects of the same or higher density (it would be equivalent to steel).

Basically, it's a sword and glowstick's lovechild.

Why do you want them to have this weapon/item at school?

Knowing and being able to use a lightsaber is a huge part of Jaina's character within canon. She is christened the Sword of the Jedi during her knighthood ceremony and she's very gung-ho about the whole thing.

IC - Only applies if you wish the item to be school approved
Name: Jaina Solo

Year/Position: Seventh Year

Item/Weapon:
Lightsaber

Why do you wish to have this weapo/itemn on the school grounds?

I would like to be able to have my lightsaber with me while in school in order to continue my fencing training and to ensure that I will not fall behind on my forms when I return home for the holidays. It also shows that I represent the Order.

I, Jaina Solo, solemnly swear that if I am granted permission to have my lightsaber, on school grounds, that it will be used responsibly and never to the detriment of staff or students.

Anything extra?

Abilities:

[I stole some of this from Fei 8|]

Character name: Jaina Solo

Canon Ability/Power: THE MUTHAFUCKIN FORCE

Why do you want to bring this into the game? /How is it important to your character?
SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT. Jaina Solo for a large part of her life is defined by her family, the Skywalkers, and her status as a Jedi Knight. She is strong in the Force canonically, and her abilities and talents definitely make their mark on the shaping of her personality.

What does it do? / How does it work?
COMPLICATED. The Force, in principle, is an all controlling, omniscent....force that flows through all living things in the galaxy. Beings that are attuned to the Force are called Force Sensitives, and their innate abilities to channel the Force usually manifests in a variety of powers, from time travel to throwing lightning bolts.  Wookieepedia does a better job of explaining what the Force can do better than I ever could http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Force_powers

Jaina in particular uses the Force mainly through piloting, enhancing her reflexes and agility during lightsaber battles, and mechanics. She has a far more practical approach to the Force than others in the Order, using it as a tool in her arsenal and not as an overreaching philosophy.

How will this be translated to Hogwarts?
Basically, being force-sensitive will translate over to having unusually high potential for wandless magic without training. So instead of using a specific spell, an individual would be able to focus their will and cause Something to happen. It allows more flexibility than the constraints of spells, but because of the lack of a focus such as a wand, can often be more exhausting and less precise. This wandless magic can also be harnessed to reach out and sense the general area around a person and can help them intuitively understand things about their surroundings that they would not have noticed otherwise - for example, in canon, Anakin Solo can fix anything mechanical, even if he doesn’t know what it does.

For Jaina, her strengths would lie in magical mechanics and engineering as well as flying and augmenting her duelling abilities.

How will you be limiting this power?
As mentioned above, the wandless magic is more exhausting and less precise than using a wand for the same thing would be. It is also limited by being specifically attached to certain areas of expertise instead of its canonical depiction as a big, overreaching pool of god-mod abilities (just ask Luke Skywalker or Jacen Solo. Flow-walking? Really.)

Do other characters know about this power? Possibly not the specifics, but as a member of the Jedi Order, it would be common knowledge that Jaina has Force abilities.

Anything else? Basically all of this is written with the idea that Jedi are an Established Thing in the SW (lol both 8|) universe and Jaina's talents are in no way exclusive to her.
