I almost was going to put a time when she decided she started loving him. But I couldn't. Kobol? Res ship 2? He does some lovely things season 1 which got her attention as well. When he gave her a book for eg. So, I decided she would think that she can't remember when instead. :)

That was brutal, but absolutely lovely. The repeated "he knows me" works so well through out the piece. Her POV was so strong I was sad thinking she might really just be using Bill...which was fantastic. And sadly I didn't want Bill to kiss me either, and that has never happened. When you made it to The Hub I was actually relieved. Very nice character piece wonderfully realized. I ♥ this very much. Well done and a great use of the prompt!

Well I'm glad you thought it was lovely somewhere in amongst the brutality. *sigh*

I'm glad you think her POV is strong and that you believed it. I think there's that real fine line that I was trying to balance on. Bitchy, hard Laura exists in a million fics, but I don't usually like her. I wanted bitchy, hard Laura that is still squishy and soft and the woman we love and can understand. So I was writing this thinking 'is that too much? not enough?' and crossed my fingers that it turned out.

So what happened anyway? Did Frak and Speedy escaped and have you tied to a chair with Six of One on and endless loop while threatening to destroy The Brown Robe of Win? I really did just sit down and it spilled out. I never really planned it at all. I did have a couple of ideas of when she wouldn't kiss him, and that it would end with the Hub, but when I started writing it started going all dark on me and I had no control! So, maybe they have put some sort of spell on me?

I loved this! This was the best 5+1 fic I ever read it was so different than your typical 5+1 fic not only did the fic not travel along the normal path that most write these, it was so full of emotion and it could really explain why she never said I love you before then. Plus the emotion is so deep I loved that. Great Fic!

Thanks Bella. I'm trying to think if I've read any of these 5+1 fics. I must have somewhere along the line. I do remember a couple but they weren't Bill and Laura. Of course that's why Bugs thought it was a good prompt, because it hasn't been done in a long time. But I never realised how difficult it would be! So, I'm really happy you think it worked out well. I wasn't so sure! Hee.

Okay, this is proof positive why sometimes you should just write quickly, let it hit the screen, and not fiddle with it too much. It feels that way, but this story needs that urgency.

I love how you turn the 'nice and comfortable' on its head, because usually that's a kiss of death in a relationship. But for Laura, we know that's more terrifying than some Bad Boy who'd slap her around.

For some reason, I adore this line: I don’t want to be the girl who breaks his heart.

First, Laura, you're both over fifty. Who's the girl here? And uh, it's the end of the worlds. Bill's had some heartbreak. (Remind me to tell you again to read Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane series, for why that line is just perfect for showing mature love.)
