i'm trying to avoid posts in general, but i wanted to share some positive stories.
working in a business that deals with the public at all times is so interesting. it's amazing how the people who come into the store can make or break a day in more ways than one. there are ALWAYS lots of assholes and just generally ungrateful, bitchy people. but then there's the nice ones. for example:
+ today there was a huge group of atleast 20 people who were in quite late. jason served them and i helped a woman who was behind them and not part of the group. when she was getting ready to pay, the man who was paying for the group said "you're the only one in this room who's not part of my group so i'm going to pay for your ice cream." it was the sweetest thing ever. she could not believe it. i was ear to ear with a smile because that was the nicest thing that i've seen someone say/do in days. it's just a couple bucks, probably no skin off his back and just so kind. i like that.
+ a couple came in the last 10 minutes we were open. they got a milkshake and split it and gave a 3 dollar tip and were just so effing nice. you could not tip a dime and just having a smile and being courteous is like the best thing ever.
+ my boss and i had a good talk about his life because he's really stressed out right now. him and his girlfriend had a major fight, money problems, etc. my boss said to his friend (and right in front of me) that if shit didnt work out with his girlfriend he wanted to date me because i was okay with him reading comics and watching superman. although i know it was a joke, it was still very nice. and i could totally file for sexual harrassment...so i can hold that over his head whenever he owes me haha.
+ friends visiting and having the time to take a little break and talk with them.
+ sharing a good beer with my boss while we close up.
+ general good souls...people who even say please, thank you, and/or acknowledge your presence as more than just their slave.
+ there's more. i leave on saturday for pennsylvania and georgia. <3
