Maybe, head out to dinner with friends or something?
When May 22 rolls around, I plan on going to the movies, going to dinner, and doing everything that I didn't do on that day cause I had to refrain from too much activity.
So, maybe, gather a few girls, head out to a really cool place that you have never been to, order something you would never have thought of eating, etc etc.
And heck, if I lived near you, I would join in on the entertainment. :)

yeah the day after mine was valentines day...there was a rave and my boyfriend insisted we go anyways...to brighten my spirits... needless to say we got into the worst fight that night..the party didnt end up happening, he made some ill thought out comments that normally would not have bothered me...like "she's okay, just crampy"...which his friends decided to make fun of me for....
yarg! he didnt mean it in a hurtful way..his foot was just horribly in his mouth that night :P wow...that was a BAD night...plus I was bleeding like no tomorrow...and I bled through the pad I had on....and it ruined my pants...and we had to take the bus home....and I was pissed and crying...wow...
what a night!
thanks alot sweetie :) I just may do something like that :)
My boyfriend told all his friends that I was getting an abortion, so if they didn't like it, they kept their mouths shut. I think the best policy is honesty - and if you didn't want him to say anything about your abortion, I would ask him to say something about your period or something.
I hated wearing pads then! I'm usually a tampon girl, so wearing the pads really made me mad...I kept bleeding and it felt all squishy and yucky.
Maybe even a tea party or something extremely feminine. OR..I've heard of women who hold "girly Parties" in which everbody is in their bras and panties and they talk bout girly stuff all day long. :) They eat junk food, watch sappy movies, and such. No cell phones, no phones at all, so therefore, no men. They make cakes that celebrate their periods and such, just cause they can. Kinda sounds like a fun party. I never really had fun sleepovers, so to me, this sounds like a great idea. :p
My "anniversary" is also the 13th, I only remember because it's the day before Valentines Day. Except this will be my 7th anniversary, and I'll be celebrating.
I was where you are a year after mine, but time has definitely made me realize that I made the best decision back then. I've finished College, gotten married and had my daughter when I was ready.
Depending on how you're feeling, you may actually want to think about the abortion on Sunday. I don't know exactly how you feel about the decision, but some women are comforted by rituals akin to "saying goodbye." If it would help you to light a candle, say a prayer, or do something else to recognize the child you could have had, do it. There's nothing wrong with that.
In terms of grieving for a traumatic event... a year is not really so long. Hopefully given more time, more distance, you will be able to recover all the way. Don't give up :)
I definitely think distraction is a good idea. See a movie or the like... take care of yourself. I am thinking of you :)
