Last night I went to Beijing with Melissa and a few other peeps to find a show of hip hop dancers that Melissa met on the plane on the way back from the states. It was a total spur of the moment thing and turned out to be a great time. We rented a minivan and got a really cool driver. He was awesome! We could not find the venue for the show, so we opted to go to dinner, Beijing Duck in Beijing! And then to a fantastic a jazz bar.
This is where we ate.
Dinner!
After dinner.
Street shot, no flash. It was great being in a different place. I have been working so hard this semester and not been out of Tianjin much at all. EVERYTHING is so different in Beijing; the people, the culture, the FOOD! I plan to travel around a lot during my break. WHY NOT!
The jazz bar. I have no idea why CD is in the name. When I first saw the sign, I thought we were going to be listening to Cd's. I was WRONG!
It was such a treat to hear live music last night that was not Beijing opera style. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Beijing opera, but variety is what it's ALL about.
While at the jazz bar we found a free Beijing culture mag that listed events, so cool. Norah Jones will be there in March. We are making plans to go. My uncle calls her Snorah, but I really like her. Her voice is like velvet.
I got a response, letter of rec, back from Mrs. Holt, but can't open it because it is in Word Perfect. I downloaded 3 different programs to convert it, all to no prevail. Alas I know she had to put it on the PC website via her email, so at least I KNOW it is there!
I am on my way to go swimming, meeting Melissa in 30 minutes.
