a cult and p.c. 411
I just learned about an authentic Chinese cult last night called the Eastern Lightning. Have you heard of them? Supposedly they get new believers in Christianity to follow them because they are not so secure in their own beliefs. Oh and it appears that this cult is oh so the coffee/water cooler talk.....I don't know how long they have been around. While typing this have been putting them in search engines and it looks like they have been around for some time. Jeesh, who knew?
Also I opened an email from my Peace Corps contact guy Andrew, and he said that he received the F.B.I. fingerprint cards back, but they were without a signature or date. DOH! Yes I have been in China long enough to accept the red stamp of authenticity to mean the ultimate in officialness. Good grief! I emailed him back to remind him that the handwritten receipt of payment was paper clipped to the cards with the date of issue. I feel like such a dork, really who forgets to check for a signature, I really thought the stamp was plenty, nobody signs official stuff here. I hope this does not set me back too far. AND I am still waiting for Yonas to finish his letter of recommendation. He has had it open for almost 3 months. The last email he sent was to let me know that he finally received the package I sent him. I wish he would have used the net time to finish the online letter of recommendation. I know that he is currently serving in Ghana and his time online is VERY limited. I am wondering if I should just ask someone else.
