No seriously, I know how you feel. I lose and gain the same 5 lbs over and over and over again. I don't know what's going with you and the weight thing... that is very frustrating. I know how painful and frustrating it can be... it's a hideous viscious cycle that is hard to get out of. Maybe you should write down everything that you eat every day and be totally honest with yourself about what you're eating and everything.

I know this is kind of not what you want to hear, but maybe you should see a nutritionist when you come home to the states? Plus, there's a great nutritionist on the BBC, Dr Gillian (I can't remember her name) but she has a show "You are what you eat" and there's also a cookbook. It really seems to be working for people who are your size/weight. Perhaps you should look into that? I can get you a copy of the cookbook and send it to Japan if you want.

Anyways... don't do anything faddy or drastic... it's just a matter of getting into the groove.

Thank you, I know you know what I'm talking about. It is crazy annoying... I have been seriously contemplating going back to low carb here, which would completly eliminate my going out to eat, um, ANYWHERE in this country, although Sarah showed me which of the listings on food labels is carbohydrates, so that's a bonus. However, limiting myself to that in Japan would ultimately be bad for me, and I know this, because there would come a time when I would go out and I would have rice or bread or pasta or dessert and that would just totally negate all the work I had done up until that point.

So, I'm just going to "watch" my carbs (watch them go in my MOUTH) and calories, too, and see what happens.

Do you know if there's a website for that chick's "philosophy?" Guess I could google it myself, huh? Duh... Thanks, Allie... and get your butt online... Tell me it would be bad to cut out of school early again.

I feel your pain. Yesterday, the scale said I gained the 3.2 kilos I had lost. I also gained 8% of my body fat back!!! I don't think our slight eating discretions could have amounted to that much weight gain. I don't even think I ate 3.2 kilos of food from Tuesday to Saturday. Maybe karaoke is fattening... If you find out anything good, let me know. My books from Amazon should be coming in the next week or so and as soon as I finish with the Allen Carr book, I'm passing it on to you. Hope it is good stuff. Maybe there is something simple that we are missing.

Yeah, I think mine was a good 2-3 kilo difference, too. WTF? That's a LOT. Perhaps the alcohol just led to water retention or something... drink lots of H2O this week and we'll see what happens next Monday.

There's only one thing to do, and that's get back on the horse/wagon/insert-metaphor-related-noun-here.

Read your smoking book first! ;->

Depending on the thickness and the boring factor, I think I could finish both within a week. You know I am a rabid reader. Very nearly speed reading. In fact, I can speed read, but I prefer to get the whole picture, not just the highlights.
