After leaving the meeting -- such as it was -- Donna and Cameron make their way back to the inn, taking their things from there to the house they've decided they might as well claim. It's thinking ahead; being practical. It still feels weird, but Donna's less affected by that than Cameron is, and anyway, the people gone from this house -- who at the very least made it to their car and left -- are not the death she's trying not to focus on.
She finds boxes -- in the attic -- and starts packing up the things that don't belong to them and they won't need; Katrina's bedroom, the family photographs, all sorts of things. It'll probably take more than one night to move all of these things from around the house up to the attic, but she can at least get it started. When she's boxed up Katrina's bedroom and packed it away, she moves onto the master bedroom; remaking the bed and tidying up and packing things and then...and then she has to clean the blood off the basin in the en suite. It looks like someone smeared blood there with their hands -- perhaps wiping their face and then touching the bathroom.
She wonders how that person ever made it out of this house; maybe they were carried? Or maybe they didn't, and not everybody in the family was in the car that isn't there any more...maybe those unassuming men and women in the hazmat suits dealt with this house already.
That's not something she really wants to think about right now. She glances out the window to see Cameron in the backyard; he's smoking, which doesn't surprise her, and moving around getting things organised out there...which also doesn't surprise her much. He's usually further ahead on that kind of thing than she is. She's not sure what this is.
When she's relatively satisfied with the progress that she's made, she goes down to investigate the kitchen more thoroughly -- to see what they're going to need, what they've already got, where everything is kept. She makes tea -- she doesn't need coffee right now -- and doesn't, doesn't, doesn't fall apart.
