I took the opportunity afforded by Niels being preschool to head down to
Commuknity today and get some help from
Nathania on sewing in set-in sleeves. She gracious sat down with me in their "living room" (I love their space, have I said that before?) and walked me through it. She was really helpful and the bunting now has sleeves. See?
All that's left is mattress stitching the sides and seaming the bottom. Oh, and weaving in the ends in the hood, but I'm ignoring that bit. I'm very excited to almost be finished with this project. It's not that I didn't enjoy doing it, well, I didn't enjoy all those freaking ends, but I am eager to have some things finished for the new baby. I have a sweater that I want to knit in some hand-dyed Inca cotton. Mmmm. I think that project is next. When I'm finished with my grandmother's scarf (see below) I can start swatching for the cably colorwork sweater I want to make for Niels. I am thinking I should make it extra big in case I don't finish by the time it's still cool enough to wear it!
My grandmother's scarf is now 50 inches long. I am aiming for 60 inches total, since she's about five feet tall. I think it won't be long before I'm done. Nathania also gave me a good idea for what to do with the leftover silk yarn: Christmas tree ornaments! I might just knit little balls of it. It's so shiny and pretty, I'll bet they would look beautiful on a tree. If I were a crocheter, I might try to make stars. But I'm not.
