This morning I arrived at my cubicle and my computer monitor had been unplugged (not something that can be done accidentally), papers I had tacked to the wall were askew, there was a footprint on my giant desk calendar and a crumpled note in my otherwise empty recycling bin with an associate's name and extension number. So, I spent the first half hour of work being like WTF? I played like VM and figured out the note was actually my supervisor's from when she had dropped it on the floor the day before but it wasn't in her handwriting because someone else had given it to her and the footprint was from someone fixing the air vent above my cubicle (my supervisor had one on a legal pad on her desk too) and my monitor was unplugged so they could plug in whatever device they used to fix the vent. At least, that's my theory on what happened. Still, a little creepy.
They released an informal list of the rankings of our firm's clients (ranked by how much the firm billed for each client). I did a ton of work for the new #1 client (sorry, can't tell whom) and I'm in charge of the billing for the #11 client. And my friends at work (all the "new" young people) do a lot of work for the #2 and #3 clients. It's nice.
Today Amanda, Ali and I went to
Craft Bar for Restaurant Week lunch. Sooooooooo good. Had Warm Pecorino Fondue with Acacia Honey, Hazelnuts and Pepperoncini for my first course (Amanda had Seared Calamari with Baby Arugula and Lemon Confit and Ali had Country Pâté with Whole Grain Mustard); Skate with Roasted Cabbage, Black Currants, Bacon and Brown Butter for my main course (Amanda had Pork Belly with Choucroute and Spatzle and Ali had Bass); and Crispy Chocolate Cake with Pistachio Ice Cream for dessert (the pistachio ice cream was soooo good; Amanda and Ali had Banana Tart Tatin with Caramel Ice Cream). We even sprung for coffee, which was very good. We did take an extra hour for lunch with a slight scare when the trains were doing weird things and Amanda had a meeting with one of the bigshot partners to get to. But, alas, it was well worth it.
Got free tickets to see Because I Said So with Nick. Maybe it's been a long time since I've seen a trashy "chick flik," but it was pretty bad. The actors/actresses were all great and I loved the clothes and I even think there were some great scenes and plot points...but the script was so terrible to the point of groan inducing. My mother will love it though.
Oh...and Boston? Fucked up. Boston needs to get over its need to inflate its importance and think the world cares more about them than the world actually does. Though, I will be impressed with Boston if I find out this is all one big meta-plot/all-encompassing advertising scheme.
That is all.
