So, it's been a fun-filled Chicago weekend...
melodywenn arrived Friday afternoon and we promptly made a Trader Joe's run, had a lovely dinner (complete with lots of ciabatta bread) at TGI Fridays, and then spent the rest of the evening on the couch watching a marathon of Jon & Kate Plus 8 episodes that I had DVR'ed. :D
On Saturday, Ellen and Sarah arrived from Boston. We picked them up at the airport and had lunch in Barrington at Egg Harbor. Then we headed to Chicago and strolled around the Wicker Park area where we found the
best bakery ever, poked around in
Myopic Books, and had dinner at
Northside Bar and Grill. We just missed our Metra train, so we spent some time riding the
blue line until we could catch the next train.
This morning, we slept in and then caught the 11:30 train into the city. We went downtown where we checked out the hotel the girls are staying at tonight and had lunch at
Due's. Then we took a leisurely walk down
Michigan Avenue back to the train station. I am not the best tour guide because I really don't know the city all that well, but we saw the
Tribune building, the
Chicago River (several times, actually),
Millenium Park, the
Art Institute of Chicago, and the
Harold Washington Library Center. We made it back to the train in time and then dropped Sarah off at her aunt and uncle's (who happen to live in Palatine!). Ellen, Melody, and I headed back to the highrise to hang out and eat dinner.
The girls headed back down to the city to stay in Ellen's hotel room so they can be up tomorrow and Ellen can check out
Northwestern's Law School (which was the whole reason for Team Boston's visit).
I really can't believe I have to work tomorrow... my head hurts and Ava is sick. But we shall overcome. The girls are coming back here to stay tomorrow night and then they'll leave on Tuesday. It's been a really busy weekend, but so much fun! :D Of course, the weather has been crappy (especially today... wet and windy and cold... ugh), but it's still been a great time with some great girls.
