On Saturday we decided to try a vegetarian cafe on the Northside called Hoi Polloi. It was pretty good and super cheap.
Teddy got some scrambled eggs with bell peppers and tomatoes. It came with tortilla chips:
I got mushroom and monteray jack cheese quesadillas. It came with pears and mystery fruit:
After eating we headed over to Schenley Park.

Because the next day was Easter, we didn't go out and do anything. It's my policy. If you can't get it done on a non-holiday day, then you don't need to do it (exceptions being things like the ER). I hate that places are open on holidays because I feel it's completely unnecessary and rude to expect people to work holidays when their shop/restaurant is non-essential. I don't go to the store, the movies, restaurants, etc on holidays (so don't ask me to go anywhere other than your house on New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year's Eve - after 5 for New Year's Eve - I'll go out in the AM). In fact, it bothers me if I go to someone's house or they come to mine and I know they bought something for the holiday that day at the store. It makes me want to hit them for making people work when they should be with their family and friends. I am thoroughly convinced that if people would stop procrastinating, get their shit together and boycott going out on the above mentioned days, stores, restaurants, movie theaters and so on would not be open. Who wants to boycott on Memorial Day with me? Woo! <3
Moving along, here are the pictures of our Easter dinner, made by me with support help (dish cleaning, plate delivery, ingredient retrieving, etc) by Teddy:
Raisin Challah and Plain Challah:
Cute little salads:
Yellow Bell Peppers stuffed with Italian spiced brown rice, whole wheat bread crumbs, onions and mashed black beans with home-spiced tomato puree (too much sodium in prepared sauce and it's not so great tasting) with mozzarella cheese. The asparagus were cooked in a grill pan with balsamic vinaigrette, olive oil and garlic:
My apricot savarin. I had savarin for the first time at Clientele in Kyoto. It's awesome. Theirs is way better than mine was, but mine was still cute and tasty:
Teddy partying with the wine bottle:
Barb and Ted joined my mom, Teddy and I. Unfortunately, my grandma was in the hospital for the weekend, but she's better now. BTW, my mom wasn't drunk here, she just blinked in all the pictures. This was the one where her eyes were the most open:
That's all for this weekend. :)
