[All right, so that little...disturbance earlier has put one Kuchiki Byakuya in a grumpy mood.
Well, worse than normal, that is. His head is still throbbing, though faintly and nowhere near as badly as when the...occurrence happened, but this only makes one thing painfully (pardon the pun) clear

If there are they've yet to show themselves.
Here's a run down. City is called Abax. When we arrived it was empty of life. Now way of generating heat save for fire and warm clothing. Trains are running however, and they carry with them a presence, same one I think just reached out and smacked us over the head. [Here's he winces, eyes closing and breathes in.]
Apparently there's a park open now. Groovy.
Expect this first wave to be one of many.

If this is the beginning a normal occurrence, we need to find ways to prepare.

Agreed. I wish we got these kinds of warnings in the Underworld... [... Ah... Right. Might wanna explain that one, Dresden.]
This isn't the first time I've been in a place like this.
Harry Dresden.

It appears we are of like circumstances, Harry Dresden. A few others and myself appeared from another strange world a couple days ago. I sincerely hope this does not become a habit.
[He bows his head respectfully.]
Kuchiki Byakuya.
[Normally he would add some sort of title, but what good would they really do him here? All symbols of his status are gone and he is sure that the day Soul Society gains power over Abax will be the day that the city sees sunlight.]

And ah... You and me both.
[Japanese huh? Harry bow's his head politely, briefly going over the very little he knew about Japanese language and protocol... Which was next to nothing.]
Nice to meet you.

Mn. How long have you been here?

Promenade. Interesting. Would you mind telling me about it? [Even so, Harry's aching mind was a-whirl, the investigator in him hard at work putting puzzle pieces together.]
Me? Can't be sure with out normal days but I estimate just over two weeks if not a fortnight exactly. Same as most here. A lot arrived around about the same time.

Upon first glance, it seemed pleasant enough. With a little bit of practice one could wish into existence many comforts: food, clothing, common objects. If one looked hard enough they could even find some place from their respective worlds of importance to them, a Place of Solace. A King and Queen ruled over it and citizens were forced to wear masks in the day and could only speak through their minds at night.
The pleasantries were a cover, of course. I never fell for the excuse that we were asleep in our worlds and had only truly awoken in Promenade. It also came to my attention, and others', that if one were to stay there too long, memories of their real worlds had the possibility of slipping away, of being forgotten.
[The reminder that he had forgotten Hisana during a certain week still haunts him.]

Byakuya may be able to see Harry listening intently, gaze flicking away as a question occurred and was set aside. He was even taking notes, scrawling everything down quickly on a pad.]
Of course they were a cover. Nothings ever fun about these places.
[He muttered darkly, giving Byakuya a look of understanding. He didn't so lose memories as he was forced to re-fight his worst opponents and other various personal nightmares.]
Thank you, that was helpful. [Not really but he's learned that manners can be helpful. The more you know!]

Knowledge can be a powerful weapon in its own right. In these places that is often the best weapon one can acquire.

I'm guessing there were also weeks of super fun happy times when certain things beyond the norm happened? Because we got them every other week in the Underworld. Wasn't fun, I can tell you now.
[ Feel free to ask. He's feeling a bit better.
Tick, tick, tick... What else was there?]
You've found a place to stay yet?

But perhaps you learned from such experiences?
[He nods in answer to Harry's question.]
We have taken up residence in a clothing store.

[Yes that's bitter experience talking.
Harry shrugs a little, rubbing the back of his neck as he did.]
Sometimes the experiences were no different from my life back home in Chicago. That said I did learn to adapt to the unexpected a bit better and that sometimes it's best to fall back to a defendable position and protect those you can.
[Namely, the Roadhouse. Speaking of which...]
Well... You folks ever want a hot meal or anything feel free to drop by The Roadhouse. Worst comes to worst, it also makes for a great safe house. [Co-ordinates here.]

[He takes note of the location.]
I will keep that in mind.

All right. Any other questions I can answer?

I do not believe so. However, I may seek you out again should this change.
