First Battle ☼ Video

[At first the camera is blocked by a hand, but after some movement, the phone is held out and reveals Éomer's serious face.]

I do not understand the purpose of these.

[In the background, there's the sound of a train approaching, and he turns the phone to face out, to capture the speeding train flying right past the platform.]Trains, I think I ( Read more... )

[He recognises you.]

I heard about those. Very creepy vibes apparently.

[He's actually going to check them out nowish. In fact you might hear his loud clomping down stairs.]

Got a name, buddy?

Vibes?

[Oh, he hears them, all right. Though his expression doesn't change.]

I am Éomer. And yourself?

Feeling or sensation. A sense of things. Ever seen something and gotten a weird feeling for no reason?

Harry Dresden, Wizard.

Yes, I have. I understand your meaning now.

A Wizard? The number of Wizards in my acquaintance grows. Do you know of Gandalf?

The lack of change in things is telling. Things that are moving never stop, things not moving or on remain inonoperable.

I'm more worried that our wardens are of the experimental variety myself, and not so much on them attempting to wait us out.

There must be some sorcery behind this. Everything must rest at some point.

You believe they observe us now from where our eyes cannot reach?

Something's behind it that can break so many laws of science. [Sorcery, she's just going to nod and smile about such things. She doesn't believe in it yet. Sorry Éomer.]

Seems like a logical conclusion. Why put us all together and do nothing while we wander around? Would be a bit stupid to not have someway to track us while we're here.

[He doesn't know anything about laws of science, so he just ignores that part.]

I do not like being watched.

I think whatever is keeping the trains moving is related to what's keeping us here.

Maybe it's related to the clock tower, too.

The clock tower? What magic does it possess?

The man who climbed to the top of it earlier passed out and woke up at the bottom, unharmed.

Now that you mention it, magic would make sense...

Unless he himself was in possession of magic, though I feel this was not the case or you would have made mention of it.

Yes, I fear a dark type of magic enchants this place, and all us with it.

[Cheetara makes a slight bow, not nearly what she would give royalty of her kingdom - She has no idea if the human is titled or not - but a polite gesture. She is unaccustomed to beginning video conversations, having just learned to switch the modes on her phone.]

This world is quite different from my own, as well.

Your suggestion that we should be aimless and worn down concerns me. We are together, yet many of us alone.

[Whoa, ok. That's a species he's not familiar with.]

That was not my suggestion. I merely meant to imply that is our captors' plans, and that is only a thought. I cannot know their minds.

I agree. [She smiles.] But, my worry is that it may be some captor's plan for us to become worn down or complacent.

I would advise preparation, and organization. Do you agree?

I do, though we cannot expect all to organize with us.

I'm quite familiar with trains, and yes - they are meant for transportation. I have yet to see them in person here, although we do have ones back from where I'm from.

Yet at some time, yours must stop to allow passengers to get into them, yes? These should stop here, but they do not. I am not sure they stop at all.

They're not stopping? [ she frowns at that. ] Well, that is odd. In my world trains are needed to stop at stations, you see - and besides, if they don't stop, then what gives them the energy to continue moving?

That is what I would like to know as well. A thing cannot move forever. It must stop, or rest at some time. There must be great magic at work here. It is the only explanation of which I can conceive.
