It took me about an hour to get out of Lower Hutt today. Usually it takes me 15-20 minutes to get all the way home, but for some reason today the traffic was particularly bad. I did stop for ten minutes at the start of my journey to get petrol, so maybe that gave the traffic enough time to build up.
So, Lower Hutt, driving hell at rush hour.
Part of this is because in the upper half of the city, there's only three routes out, and they're all barely adequate for the traffic flow when it's not busy. Come rush hour, and the two main bridges turn into parking lots. The queue for Kennedy Good Bridge was backed up almost all the way back into the CBD.
They need another bridge or something.
