April Seoul Trip: Yeolbong

Apr 10, 2011 23:14

I have so much I want to report/translate, I seriously don't know how I'm going to do it all lol. So, as with the Himitsu-chan screencaps, I'm going to divide my Seoul report as well. A big thank you to cabbycabcab for getting the directions!

The first thing you see before you step into the restaurant is, of course, the infamous Se7en cut-out. It's life-size and very handsome, but unfortunately extremely ... flat. *snrk* In any case, my friends and I were hungry, so molesting groping taking a picture with Se7en was shoved aside; we headed straight in for some delicious chicken first.

Here's the inside of Yeolbong. Simple but classy design.

Pictures of all the past celebrities who've visited Yeolbong decorate the walls: assorted YG family artistes, JYP artistes, Rain, SNSD's Yoona, etc. I didn't really take any close-up shots, sorry. ^^; You can see a clearer shot of their photos in a different picture at the end!

THE FOOD. IT WAS FABULOUS.

Almost all the plates and bowls in Yeolbong have that cute chilli logo on them. :D

First came the appetizers. Kimchi - o god so much kimchi - and bean sprout soup.

CHICKEN. CHICKEN HAIRSTYLE--a;lsdf. (If you get this joke, you win a cookie.) A-Anyway, the chicken came with carrots, potatoes and (absolutely god-given) delicious vermicelli noodles, covered in a yummy spicy sauce. The chicken was great, but I really couldn't stop stuffing myself with the noodles homg sogood.

Warning on the sauce: there are three levels, and we were already making hissing noises over the first level. I may not be very strong when it comes to spicy stuff, but my friends definitely are, so uh. Just be careful!

For those who want to challenge themselves but need a fire extinguisher of sorts, I highly recommend this drink! It's basically just peach juice, but it will somehow quell the fierce burn on your tongue with its miraculous powers.

By the way, it comes out in one carton. We didn't know that and my friend had asked for four (one glass per person, or so we assumed), to which the waitress said in a most incredulous tone, "Four!?" We'd have peach juice leaking out of our ears if she hadn't questioned our order l-lol.

Rice with seaweed and tofu. Hmm yes. ♥

When you're done with the chicken, you can ask the waitress to add rice. She'll clear off the extra pieces of meat and potato, stir in a bowl of rice with a wooden spoon and add seaweed on the top. Would've probably been really yummy if we weren't already so full. ^^;;

On our way out, we caught sight of a curious-looking tree near the entrance - oh hey, photographs!

Can you spot something hidden within the green leaves? :D

LOOK MA I TOUCHED SE7EN.

.... y-yeah, MOVING ON. It's really quite simple to get to this branch of Yeolbong, so drop by if you do head to Seoul. Whether you like Se7en or not, the food is worth a taste!
