Today is Yom HaShoah

Apr 30, 2008 23:13

Approximately 70 years ago, Adolf Hitler enacted "The Final Solution to the Jewish Problem."  Systematically, 6 million Jews, along with millions of Gypsies, homosexuals, Russians, political prisoners, and other undesirables, were imprisoned, abused, tortured, experimented on, worked to death, or simply executed.  Today, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the President of Iran, dismisses The Holocaust as myth and propganda - a Zionist conspiracy to win pity and favor from Western governments.

Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day - is the Jewish way to make sure no one forgets what happened to millions of innocents, particularly 6 million Jews (or half of the world's Jewish population at the time).

'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened.' - General Eisenhower (paraphrase), upon seeing Ohrdruf, a feeder camp of Buchenwald.

Link people to this, please (it's 100% public-viewable). I'm not advertising anything, nor am I trying to sell my writing. It's important to remember.
