Its been my opinion that religous people often leave their kids in a wasteland of ignorance that eventually causes their demise in many ways. Especially concerningt he issue of sex.
I am a person who asks those around me a lot of questions. Even personal questions. I am also generally very willing to answer personal questions. This helps in being credible as an inquisitive person.
In observing many adult christians, elders, and ministers its been my experiance that most of them admit to having sex before marriage as well as having been involved with multiple people in their life time.
Its also been my experiance that those same people ussually are awful at communicating about sex with their children. They generally are hard nosed about communicating about anatomy openly about sex and about all things related to both.
This generally makes for a situation where the children know their are taboos on things and so they are curious about them. Due to their parents treatment of the subject they are forced to find out about these things on their own. They also are ill eqipped in knowing how to deal with such issues becuase of lack of open and honest teaching on these subjects both by the church and by parents. Instead they get an eyeful from hollywood, their friends, and public schools. All places that glamorize bodies, sexuality, and sex.
But from their parents and the church they get the standard "just say no" and "dont talk about your bodies". So in general they become inquisitive and independent and have sex. And then they have children and stay silent on the same subject that their parents did. Then their kids continue the cycle.
What are your thoughts?
