It seems I've been away from LJ a while, and some people are starting to notice...

New computer update):
Hi, Aaron!
Haven't seen you post for a while and just wondering how you're doing and what all are you up to, into, and doing.
Well...
Last month and early this month, Micro Center had a sale on digital cameras, so I went to
my local Micro Center around the beginning of the month. I saw a camera I liked -- a
Canon PowerShot A550 -- but the store was out of that model, so I bought it at
microcenter.com instead (sale price plus shipping was still less than the regular price). Upon its arrival on June 6 and its unpacking in the wee hours of June 7, I installed my previously-purchased memory card and rechargeable AA batteries, and gave Dad his old camera back permanently. :-) I'm still getting used to some of the new camera's functions, but I like it. In particular, it's nice to finally have a zoom lens! :-) (4x optical zoom.)
Here's a picture of the new camera:

Speaking of Dad, I got my dad a
Menards gift card for Fathers Day. We also had midday dinner at my grandma's on Fathers Day -- Dad got to see Grandma's new kitchen, and we all got to see Dad's girlfriend's new car (a little
Honda Fit, which she loves).
As for where I've been the last few weeks, well, I've been enjoying my computer (playing
The Sims 1 and
SimCity 4, hanging out in
There, and exploring
Second Life), the summer weather, and some books. Some recent books I've read: Kenneth M. Stampp's
America in 1857: A Nation on the Brink; Lucy Jago's
The Northern Lights: The True Story of the Man Who Unlocked the Secrets of the Aurora Borealis (about scientist
Kristian Birkeland); Yogi Berra's
The Yogi Book : I Really Didn't Say Everything I Said; and I'm currently rereading James D. Watson's
DNA: The Secret of Life.
I could probably think of more to post, but this is enough for now. :-)
