Well that was an ordeal.
I got home from the gym, and saw Mika chewing what I initially interpreted as a ball. Upon closer inspection, it was my sewing pin. You know, one of those tomatoes you stick pins into. No, seriously, HOW did she get this tomato cushion in the first place?!? I immediately started to panic, as I saw far fewer pins than I recall ever seeing in the tomato. Carl was off work tonight, so I made him grab the dog and run down to the emergency vet clinic in town to get Mika X-rayed in case she actually ate needles.
The good news is that she has zero metal in her, and she is now home safe and sound (though, she WAS being a freakin' drama queen in the office). The bad news? I just spent our power bill money on X-rays. The office was nice enough to waive the exam fee as the doctor didn't examine Mika -- rather, he had ANOTHER emergency ahead of Mika. Some poor man's dog was hit by a dog and they were fighting to save the dog's life. As much as I could bitch about losing the money, Mika is okay and NOT having a team of vets and assistants trying to save her.
I'm pretty lucky, considering.
