So this past weekend Carl and I had gone up to Lombard to visit our friend Ben, and together we'd gone to see the sixth Harry Potter film. During the previews we saw a trailer for Sherlock Holmes featuring -- of all people -- Robert Downey, Jr. as Holmes

You really didn't know? Maybe it's because if I can't be found under a table drunk I can be found over on ohnotheydidnt. I've been anticipating this film for a while. It's directed by the ex Mr. Madonna - Guy Ritchie. Some interview during filming is where we get this delightful gif:



As for this film, it's not based on any of the stories that Conan Doyle wrote, it's a new story using his characters.

A lot of the action that Conan Doyle refers to was actually made manifest in our film. Very often, Sherlock Holmes will say things like, 'If I hadn't been such an expert short stick person, I would have died in that' or he would refer to a fight off screen. We're putting those fights on screen.
