Yesterday nytemarewulf and I saw RENT (the same show that reevis5 and slavetoreznor went to). Overall it was a decent cast; the certain improvement over the last production we saw was over the role of Roger (which was butchered by former American Idol female wet dream man Constantine Maroulis, who pretty much just yelled in the last production). While this new guy was an improvement (and had quite the breath control!), he was trying perhaps too hard throughout the first act to mask the fact that he was from England, and apparently decided to just say "fuck it" and went full Brit in Act 2. This apparently got Carl aroused. :: laugh :: My biggest disappointment was Collins, who just didn't seem to have much chemistry at all with his counterpart Angel.
My God there were a lot of old ladies at the show. I mean, seventy plus. Apparently Jamie got to hear them talk on and on and on during the intermission -- "... can you follow this story, Agnes? I can't follow it at all!! But I can sure understand those BODY gestures, I tell you what!" Behind us during the first act, meanwhile, was someone who was starting to summarize the plot loud enough for everyone to hear -- "That's Angel; he falls in love with Collins and he's a DRAAAG QUEEEN!" -_- More annoying was the man whose cell phone rang LOUDLY during "Your Eyes", as Roger sings to a dying Mimi. I was just waiting for Brit Roger to just drop Mimi on the floor and go apeshit, but alas it didn't happen!
We ate at Denny's later, and I almost choked to death (making Carl once again fill with the anticipation of giving me a trach -- I don't know why, but he's just waiting for that moment of glee) because I was laughing at something I REALLY shouldn't have, and then as I finally swallowed my food, I said, "... egad, I'm so going to Hell."
"Oh please, Roger! There are far worse things for you to go to Hell for doing!"
"Yeah, like your eating bacon."
"... and the fact that your people killed Jesus!"
"... ^^;;;;"
