The Yom Kippur that was

I have wonderful, wonderful friends. Reuben and chilawbear had allowed me to participate in their respective synagogues' Yom Kippur services, somethiing I haven't done in a while. I forgot how much easier the fast was just by having someone doing it WITH you, and the services were both quite nice; I hadn't forgotten anywhere near as much as I thought. :: ( Read more... )

I will hold you in my thoughts and prayers. This was my 11th year to observe Yizkor. My first was just 8 days after Pop's death and I remember all to vividly just how raw I was emotionally. While its gotten easier with time, I still find myself in tears at times, often unexpectedly. I hope that you had an easy fast.

There really are good people left in the world. It was much harder to believe that living in the city, but it's much easier now that I'm in a rural community again. People you don't even know waving as they drive by, neighbors you've never met from down the road showing up at your door with fresh produce from their gardens.

As for offering you a towel and change of clothes, perhaps they were only interested in finding out if the fabled stories were true. :)
