[Multilingual Monday] One of these is in a made-up language. Guess which one!

  • Laïs - Kalima Kadara 3:10, ~3.05MB Are there a bunch of song-writing conlangers in Belgium or what?? First Urban Trad's "Sanomi", and now this song, the theme song to a popular television show in Belgium called Flikken sung in a created language (and what its lyrics or title mean are both a mystery -- again, much like "Sanomi"). It's performed by Laïs, a group of three singers who sing in pretty much every language imaginable, mixing a very traditional-sounding melody with more modern instruments or backings. It's very hypnotic-sounding, particularly in the language that it's being sung in. Whatever that is ^^;;;;
  • Zsédenyi Adrienn - Motel (Raindrops Dance Mix) 3:16, ~6.74MB "Motel" is sung in Hungarian by vocalist Zsédenyi Adrienn, known in Hungary for having a unique and strong vocal capability compared to a number of more internationally-known vocalists. As far as I can understand this is a love song, with lyrics like, "Love me, hold me, trust that there's no other place" (hey, I'm lucky I got that!). I really like the remix of this song (found on the CD as the original) and the first time I heard this it was one of those "play it repeatedly" tunes for me.

  • NOTE : Due to overtime at work and a surprise rush translation needed by Fujimoto-sensei, I'm pushing Multilingual Monday's main article to tomorrow. Sorry. ^^;;;;
