The Movies

So I saw a review for a game coming out called The Movies, and I admit, THAT looks like my kind of game -- I'd love to see just what kind of short films I can make with the thing.  I excitedly showed the review to Todd, who said that he had interest in getting it at some point in time, and it didn't dawn on me until a little later just what that would mean ...

... that Todd would be resurrecting his line of unbelievably fucked-up movies, again.

Let me explain : years ago we were introduced to the likes of Film Maker for the Commodore 64 and some "still scene story maker" thingie for the CD-I (remember that thing?) some time after that.  On the latter system he made some film about a man investigating murders, and it turns out that a COW is killing townspeople, so the detective (?) and this cow get into a sword fight, and then the man gets a sword jabbed through him, yet he's perfectly fine and continues sword fighting.  I remember my aunt wanting to see our stories, and her blank look as she just stared at the screen, part in horror and part in mere confusion, at just what the hell she was looking at.  On the C64 he had a series of movies called The Flat Girl on Main Street (I think he made, like, twenty-four of these things.  Seriously), where the whole idea was that there were two girls (who were sisters? Coworkers? Lesbian lovers?) who would walk around town.  Sounds simple enough, until you have things start to pursue the girls, like cars.  Trucks.  Planes.  Boulders.  Houses.  Geometric shapes.  They'd all chase the girls off-screen, and then the girls would walk out, flattened and ready for MORE abuse, all to the tune of "Peter and the Wolf", played backwards and two octaves lower than it should be.  Because a woman being pursued and then flattened by houses and geometric shapes isn't fucked up enough. ^^;;;;

I admit that part of me's curious to see just what Todd would do with this thing -- will it be a another disturbing look into my brother's psyche like that time we had Dream House and he set fire to the house and put cat heads on the walls? The only thing I DO know, is that Todd'll say, "Dude, check this out," and I'll watch it, and I'm almost guaranteed to stare at it and go, "Todd? This is fucked up."
