So... What Is Happening?!

I just saw the trailer for Silent Hill Ascension and... What is going on here? This will definitely be the thing to get me to talk about video games on my channel again because that trailer threw a lot at the wall and I guess it's sticking, but to me it just looks like old spaghetti slowly sliding down the wall until it hits the floor with a wet, but anemic and unsatisfactory splat.

From what I understand, Silent Hill Ascension is supposed to be an interactive series game.

...

Okay, but why tho?!

I thought the point of the games were to give the player a feeling of loneliness and isolation. How are they planning on carrying those themes out in an "interactive" medium? Someone speculated that it may be like Until Dawn, where you have different characters going through the same story, but at different times and with different choices each time.

It does look like that may be the direction Ascension is going in, and that's cool I guess. But I realize I really don't like those kinds of games. You would think I would, but I've never once gotten though Until Dawn or Man of Medan or anything like that. I always end up falling asleep on them or just losing interest part way through and that's probably going to happen when I attempt to watch this.

I don't know y'all? I get that Konami realized they badly shot themselves in the foot by only focusing on mobile games. I get they want to recapture their ever dwindling fan base by throwing out some Silent Hill titles, but I just don't know if Ascension is "it", so to speak. It really looks like an Outlast clone and there's nothing wrong with Outlast per se, but I didn't come here for Outlast, I came here for Silent Hill and it's subtle eerie, like a tarantula with a bunch of C4 strapped to it and it's crawling right by your legs, slow burn horror. Not the frenetic blood soaked nightmare fuel that is the Outlast series.

are you f-ing serious?!, come on now?!, get wit me, really?!, what?!, bwuh, petty annoyances, silent hill series
