I posted about
Survivors the other week; I'm liking it a lot. I'm wondering if the BBC is on some sort of post-apocalyptic jag, though - I'm not so sure how to greet the news that
Day of the Triffids is on its way back.
I would have been seven/eight, I think, when the last version aired. And truly terrified. But I see those big, gaudy, floppy triffids now, looking so ridiculous, and wonder why.
I think a new version can only work if they can find some way to make the Triffids genuinely scary, and I don't know how they'll do that. I fear it's just going to end up as over-the-top, highly colourful, entertaining nonsense. I'll be interested to see who their target audience is.
Secret: I cannot wait for this.
