I was holding my breath the entire time Boris Johnson was onscreen. He managed to get through without any major mishaps, although he made waving a flag look really difficult. I am nervous for the next four years.
The 'Introduction to London' slot was surreal. The start of Leona Lewis' performance put me in mind of this: Fifth Element: Blue squidhead lady sings opera.
I really, really enjoyed the games. The thing I found most surprising was the BMXing - I'd assumed it would be tricks; the racing was really exciting. I discovered that BMXers are nails hard (although the sight of a grown man on what I'll always think of as a boy's bike is strange).
I watched more of the first week than the second. I don't know why - usually I like the athletics a lot more.
I also enjoyed the commentaries - especially when they showed a shot of the moon and the commentator was puzzled as he had heard you could see the Great Wall of China, and he couldn't find it/ Took him a moment.
