In the pipeline
I am getting a bit impatient about some upcoming dramas:
Andrew Davies' Sleep With Me - ‘obsession, betrayal, desire...tense, dark...sexual politics’ - sounds like a badly-disguised humpfest. But it’s starring Anamaria Marinca, Jodhi May, and Adrian Lester, so it’s gotta be more than that.
Kiss of Death, policey-type drama starring Danny Dyer and Louise Lombard. (Dempsey and Makepeace, anyone?? Cast looks great in general). The time-flippy element will either work well or just be confusing.
Bonekickers. Detectives do history/archaeology? Hope it’s not a ripoff of ‘Bones’. I’m a bit meh about Julie Graham but I really like the idea of this - it sounds like it could be fun. Adrian Lester and Hugh Bonneville tend to be solid.
With historical dramas, for me, it totally depends on the cast and approach taken… The Devil’s Whore, about the Puritans, may turn out to be astonishing. I heard that John Simm and Maxine Peake were going to be in something together, so I investigated further. The names associated with this drama are amazing (the link will give you some idea…), but I really want to see a definitive cast list.
