I love international students

So last night was really nice. We went to an International Student Night held at this pub (The Skeff=Skeffington Arms). At first it was just awkward turtle, standing with the Americans I knew, but then we mingled, and met some really nice people. There was Lea, Theo, and Yaonn from France, Tom from Poland, and Lucan from England. Or something like ( Read more... )

Just catching up.... off2explore September 13 2008, 14:29:22 UTC
Hey chica! I hadn't read in a while, so I just caught up on all the craziness of your life. I am glad to hear about all the people you are meeting and having some fun with. I loved getting to meet international people, in my cases just Italians, because they have such a different way of looking at life and esp. at America in general. I hope that you have some great experiences talking with them.

Next about homesickness and friend-making and drinking: Just throw yourself in there, be yourself, and HAVE FUN! Only drink what you feel like you want to, there are few people who will legitimately try to pressure you. You can generally still have fun in all situation without drinking. Also, homesickness, make your parents get Skype. My family put a baby monitor (I am not kidding you) next to the computer and the receiver in the living room so they could hear the "phone" ring like a normal phone call home. It is free, if not a little complicated.

I am happy to hear that you are getting the most out of your experience though. We miss you here a LOT. You are a common topic of conversation. :P I hope all is well still and you continue to learn about the culture and more importantly, yourself. LOVE YOU!

Thanks so much! It's really nice to hear from people back home, it makes me feel more at home here, if that makes sense. It's like a reminder that I'm not living two disparate lives, I'm just living one life and feeling connected with everything I left behind helps.

I talked to my dad with my webcam twice this week, the first time for a good 45 minutes. My mom and I are trying to make some time today work. The quality has been the best with msn messenger, so we're sticking with that. So that's good
