I haven't been able to find evidence of an actual Mexican Crab Man legend so I am led to believe that this is at least in part some artistic liberty. It caught my eye because there is a Japanese creature, 平家蟹 (Heikigani), that is a human-faced crab. The correlations between different obscure folklore and legends in different parts of the world is very interesting.
Tomorrow is my flight out of Mexico. I should arrive home early Monday, Japan local time. Nakao's show is Tuesday and then I may have a job on Hokkaido some day later.
