My Work Day Of 2014...

Jan 02, 2014 17:11

As usual, I ended up with a long break for Christmas.  Not as long as I normally have taken, but 12 days off in a row is still a nice chunk of time.  I didn't get any projects done.  I didn't work on any.  I just took this time to relax and get caught up on the everyday things.  I don't think I've vacuumed this much in a long time.  And it rained a shit load.  So that took a lot of the fun out of possibly getting out and about.

I did do a little tweaking on the Media room.  I Got the new mattress.  It was a little squishy, but my hiney is quite large so that could be a lot of it.  I put the crown molding lights on the remote.  so now I can control them from the recliner.  I also got the sub woofer to work right, fixed the Elvis picture and I put up shelves for the candy jars.  So... It's coming along.  There are still things to do, but there always will be.

I also took this time out for some reflection.  I realized that I tend to be motivated into this reflection-ary mode by something I read.  This time it's several things.  But I think I'll only put one up at a time... so I can expound on each one.  Or maybe two.

In 2014, COMMIT!

Commit to MORE:
More Reading.  More exercise.  More Laughing.  More Honesty.  More Integrity.  More Action.  More speaking up for yourself and others.  More saving.  More work on the things that matter.  And more time spent with those who matter.

Commit to LESS:
Less Griping.  Les whining.  Less anger.  Less Eating.  Less Television.  Less wasting Time.  Less Sitting on your butt.  Less Social Media.  Less silly spending.  Less time spent with Toxic People.  Less energy spent on things that don't move you forward.

I don't know who that is, I saw it shared on someone else's page.  But I really like it.  I thought about this a lot.  It's very subjective and if you attempt it you are actually accomplishing the commitment.  The trick is to make it part of your everyday.  Which ties into something I read on the editors page of Real Simple Magazine.

The way you do anything is the way you do everything.
Chew on that one for a bit.  I did and I take it to mean no matter what I do, I should strive to do it as best I can.  I'm tired of being mediocre.  And If I give everything I have to everything I do, then I should have no regrets.  I do it mostly.  I don't like to waste my time on re-doing things, explaining why it's not quite right.... Just do it.  Do it right.  And I shouldn't have any excuses to make.

introspective, 2014, resolutions
