After the Storm...
So Rose and I head to the Grocery store to pick up some mushroom caps, sald fixin's and french bread to go with dinner and this is what we came home to. Except the sky was cracking with lightning and thunder, the wind was gusting and the rain was pounding really hard. When I figured out what that thing laying in my yard was, I looked up to see this gaping hole! the whole didn't bother me as much as the missing siding. But I saw it scattered across the neighbor's yards. So I parked the car and raced after it - Not a pretty sight. But I got all the pieces and put them in the garage. My neighbor came over and showed me how all the pieces fit together and offered to help me put things back up If I could find a 27 foot ladder.
So I crawled up in the attic to put the vent back in to keep the critters out and I realize that I can reach everything from the opening. so I put the siding back up - attaching it to the studs as I went along - and then screwed the vent into the stud as well. I pretty much guarantee that it won't be coming out ever again.
So below you can see the before pictures and then the finished repairs. 20 minutes and no cost. You have got to love those kinds of repairs.
